Brown.

And frankly it’s not really close.

He is a much better athlete. Now his skill set is catching up.
What on earth has given you the impression it’s not close?

Brown is also not that much better an athlete either.

For the time being, it's Brown. He is a premier scorer in all phases of the game and he plays very solid defense. I just trust him more.

Tatum is more 'deadly' in that he can turn a game around from behind the arc and he is a better playmaker, but he just doesn't play with the same purpose that Jaylen does and his decision making can be questionable. Of course he is only 22 and he will probably learn to better value possessions in the future, but he just lacks a little bit of that maturity that Jaylen currently has.

Jaylen's been their best player so far this season.

Tatum certainly hasn't be a slouch, though.

Like I said in the game thread....I think right now it's Jaylen. His offensive game has exploded.

And it's made for some fun basketball. My hesitation is he's not facing double teams and traps at the same level as Jayson, so I don't know how you can judge them fairly when they're not facing the same defensive pressure. I would also like to see bench units with him as the only starter/primary scoring option fare a bit better.
^this. I would like to add that while that there is some uncertainty surrounding Jaylen as an offensive engine, he's also considerably better than Tatum as an offensive #2 or even #3, and those secondary/tertiary roles are still really valuable.
Jaylen Brown for All-NBA

For the first 7 games its been Jaylen, my guess is by years end it will be Tatum but closer than most people probably think. I also dont really think it matters.

Brown is also not that much better an athlete either.

Brown is scoring more, getting more assists, better defense, and has a positive 12 net rating
Tatum is rebounding more and is a negative net rating.
(will most likely change with tonights game)
'21 Historical Draft

SG: Reggie Miller / Jeff Hornacek / Nick Anderson
SF: George Gervin / George McGinnis / Kyle Korver
PF: Connie Hawkins / Serge Ibaka / Josh Smith
C: Clint Capela / Bill Laimbeer / Jusuf Nurkic

Right NOW we're gifted with TWO players that SHOULD be top-15 players by the end of the season - if they keep this up.

If Harden isn't coming our way then we'll NEED this kind of play from The Jays to have "ANY" hope of post-season success.

I'm personally optimistic....considerably cautious as well - but definitely optimistic.

Keeping doing THIS - and bring your teammates along with you - like you did today.

Smart was solid today, as well.

Brown. He's more consistent and always show up big when it matters.

Statistically Brown has been superior this season. This can turn on a dime. Just feel 10 times more confident when Brown makes a play. I concede it is closer than I stated. Hyperbole.

Brown is considerably quicker and seems to have superior core strength. He is an elite athlete. Tatum is not. I feel his athleticism is average for an NBA player. Tatum’s skill level has been superior but Brown is catching up.

I don't see Tatum's athleticism as average. Not at all. He doesn't have the elite athleticism of Brown, but he is well above league average as an athlete.

i voted Brown mostly bc i see him as showing a bit more leadership.
basketball wise its so close
and theyre both so good

but in jaylen i think i see the personality of someone who can lead/ carry a team.
im not as sure tatum has that edge

I still think Tatum is the better player. I also think TTum was more ready/less raw than Brown was. That being said, patience with Brown is paying off as he’s gradually grown in to a good player. I’m just glad to have both of these guys on the team.

Before the season, many people said in order for this Celtics team to contend, one or both of Tatum/Brown would have to make an additional leap. Well, Brown has done it.
