Title: Do We Even Have The "Ammunition" For Rental Trades?
Post by: Phantom255x on January 11, 2018, 09:35:24 PM
I mean, typically, 2nd rounders could net you rentals like Tyreke Evans and Lou Williams, or others too. But if I'm not mistaken, the Celtics don't have 2nd round picks coming the next few years, since that pick likely goes to OKC in 2018, and MEM in 2019 if it conveys between 56-60 (which seems likely, and isn't a bad thing).

And the C's likely aren't giving up their 2018 own first round pick for a pure rental I imagine either.

So.. what can they even offer to acquire a Tyreke Evans or Lou Williams?

No, they aren't trading Smart or Rozier, and I already went over the whole draft picks "dilemma" above.

I'm guessing Ainge is simply going to see all the players that get bought out and use the DPE to sign whoever the "best available" guy is (My guess, either Chandler or Monroe from the Suns, depending on who they buy-out).

Maybe. Don't know if Ainge would deal those though. They seem to have more value than the C's own first rounder this year.

Hands off the Memphis pick.

Ainge not being willing to trade them, and not having assets are two entirely different things.  The Celtics have all kinds of assets.  Whether or not they view a trade as worth the value is the question.

Memphis pick is an gold mine. I don't mind giving up our own first rounder. Plus there's gonna be a lot of sleepers in the second round. (If we just wanna buy one for cash considerations.)

Can always do a 3 way where we trade Nader to someone for a 2nd rounder, send that pick to Memphis or LA and we get Tyreke Evans or Lou Williams for the DPE.

Don't go devaluing a late first rounder.. Teams like them coz player is cheap, and can turn into an all-star with a bit of luck

Rozier+Boston first for Lou absolutely works. Problem is Clips probably think they can re-tool around Lou.

That's a heck of a lot for Lou.
