Yeah, I don't see Kyrie walking away from AD + the remaining Celtics core - some players who might have contributed to the stagnation of this past season.

Getting Davis is priority #1 and retaining Kyrie #2. All else will fall into place from there.

Kyrie
Smart
Brown
Horford
Davis

With Hayward, Morris, Baynes off bench is nice

Kyrie
Brown
Durant
Horford
Davis

is better.

If we thought this year was bad can you imagine next year expectation wise if we get ad and keep Kyrie? Anything short of a championship will be total failure to most people here.

Realistically if we have to obliterate the team to get ad we could easily still be just decent next year.

The third pick is still a nice asset to trade. In fact, a lot of GMs may consider the third pick to be more valuable than Tatum, considering Tatum himself was a third overall pick and only has two years left on his rookie deal. If Tatum had an amazing year things might be different, but right now he doesn't look like the sure thing, future all-star he did last year.

The Knicks also have Knox and Mitchell Robinson and would undoubtedly offer as many future 1sts as it would take, which somewhat matches our collection of crapola first rounders this year (in a draft most analysts say is shallow).

It's looking like the Celtics will have to offer everything they have now to win the Davis sweepstakes. I'm talking Smart, Tatum, Brown, the MEM pick, and at least two of our three first rounders this year. Even if it meant Kyrie staying, that would be a humongous risk to take.

there is no way that is the package for Davis.

not a chance

He has demanded out. once those words cross a players lips and it makes it to the media the price goes down....way down.

Leonard and Green for Demar Derozan, Poeltl and a laaate 1st.
Butler for Bayless, Covington, Saric and a 2022 second rounder
George (who did NOT demand a trade) was moved for Sabonis(rookie) and Oladipo(was a nobody at the time)
Griffin for Harris, 1st rounder and scraps (no trade demanded)
Cousins (who did not demand trade) unproven rookie Heild, Evans, Filler and a couple picks.
Butler for Lavine and Dunn
Love Wiggins, Bennet, filler (no trade demanded)
Irving and a pick for Thomas, Crowder, Zizic, and the 8th pick

Yet people are proposing

Tatum
Brown
Smart
Memphis unprotected pick
SAC Pick
LAC Pick
Boston pick

That is insane.

Naw, I dont think team gets obliterated at all.

A combination of Hayward, Tatum, Williams, picks, with possibly a 3rd team will get a deal done.

Brown and Smart will be preserved as they, along with Horford, are ideal parters to a Davis/Kyrie duo.

Uh George did the same thing as AD, declared he would not sign with the Pacers and let them know his preferred destinations. Exact same move as Davis, just wasn't done during the season.

I sure hope he's right, and I hope we can get AD without including Brown.

Maybe Tatum and Memphis pick as the 2 centerpieces, plus Smart, RW3 and 2-3 of our 1sts, is enough to get land AD, and enough to get Kyrie to stay.

Yeah the trade proposals are crazy. Still, if we land AD while keeping Smart and one of Tatum or Brown, that’d be an epic coup.

There's no way all of Tatum, Brown, Memphis or Sac pick is getting into the AD deal. One of Tatum or Brown, or else we keep the picks. And New Orleans is going to want those picks.

That seems impossible at this moment.  I don't see how we can keep Tatum & Smart, they seem like they have to be included, plus many picks- unless it's even worse and we're required to include Brown instead of Smart.

As it stands, we may have to give up all three of Smart, Tatum and Brown, to get it done.

Not Tatum and Brown if New Orleans wants picks, which they will want. So Tatum or Brown plus picks etc.

The media + the Lakers have created the expectation that to get Davis every team has to give up all their assets.

That's not what you get for rentals in the modern NBA. I am skeptical its all that different now.

Agreed, this is my take from the AD thread:

The value of the Memphis pick has gone up considerably and I should think AD will cost Tatum + Smart + 2-3 2019 1sts, but that we should be able to hold either Brown or the Memphis pick out of the deal.  Considering we'd be trying to win now by making the deal, I'd be inclined to keep Brown.
