On a more serious note, is there any website that has details on how the basketball competition is structured. I don't remember exactly how it works, and would like to keep up on it.

All I can find are results.

For the record, that's all I'm interested in when it comes to the Olympics. Bringing the basketball gold medal back where it belongs.

Dont know any website but it is pretty easy:
Two groups of 6 teams. Each team plays 5 games (USA plays against China, Spain, Greece, Angola and Germany). The best four in each group qualify for the quarter finals.
Quarter finals are:
1st group A-4th group B (A)
2nd group A-3rd group B (B)
3rd group A-2nd group B (C)
4th group A-1st group B (D)
In this round the one who losses is out of competition.

Winners play semifinals: Winner(A)-Winner (C)
                         Winner (B)- Winner (D)
Again, just one game.

Finally:
Bronze medal game.
Final

Thanks dude. My basic understanding was that we can afford to lose an early game, and none after that.

Carmelo Anthony was a joke last game. I like that kid less and less every year.

he had an off game, but if team usa wins he'll be why. he translates to FIBA rules better than any american ive seen.

To me it seems that apart from LeBron no one else really wanted to be there. It`s like the rest were forced to do it by their managers and image makers.

On the completely opposite side Nowitzki when won the qualification broke down to tears. And the guy every single summer goes to Germany and plays with a bunch of less than average players  instead of cruising the seas.

based on what?

if you've seen the stuff leading up to this, I.E them in camp, they all look happy to be there, why does lebron get to be the guy being truthful and the other 14 are liars?

Based on the game. To me it seemed that Lebron tried to play basketball and win the game instead of giving a performance. Watch Dirk and Gasol and compare their passion during the games with Melo`s for example.

Of course i don`t know what they said in camp in Vegas (BTW i don`t think that Spain`s training camp was in Monaco or Capri or Ibiza). What i do know is that every player in every sport when asked by reporters is happy in the camp with his team mates and the coaches. They say (everyone and not just NBAers) what they must say and not what they want say.

If you liked the effort the put it`s fine by me. It`s not even my business.

There you go, USA beach volleyball is playing well.  The synchronizing diving wasn't too impressive.
