i think part of the improvement may include him taking less less-desireable shots (heat checks) and playing within the offense to get open shots. add to that is that defenses dont often play him close, inviting him to shoot since he has a history of poor 3 point shooting.

left open and taking a good shot, his in practice repetitions may be paying off. good.

however, if the defenses start playing him closer on the 3 point line, his percentage may drop. but then again it means that there is one less defender in the paint sagging off of him. that is a plus too.
I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

It’s nice to see His FG% hovering above 40% just past the halfway point

And 35.6% 3PT :o

Four attempts per game, where he is now, seems about perfect. If this really sticks and he keeps improving the degree of difficulty can go up. Given his ability to dribble and thread a pass, be pretty cool if defenders always had to go over picks to defend him.

35-36% is pretty good. Teams have to think about leaving him open at those rates. And if teams start guarding him differently out there, maybe he's able to drive to the basket a little more often.

With his defense and playmaking, if this shooting is sustainable (the 35.6%, that is) for the coming years, he could make the $13-$14 mil a year look darn good.

I'm glad we locked him up. He's the best perimeter defender in the NBA. He is a really good facilitator. Now, he is making shots at a reasonable rate.

He's a perfect backcourt compliment for Irving, and Hayward, and Brown, and Tatum, depending on who is on the court.

Having him being able to knock down open threes opens up a lot of options for other players for the Celtics - like Kyrie Erving.
The beatings will continue until morale improves

Taking this off twitter but I think it's all right:

Marcus Smart currently has a higher 3P% than: Klay Thompson, Kemba Walker, Devin Booker, Victor Oladipo, Bradley Beal, Jamal Murray, Kyle Lowry, Chris Paul, Jo Ingles, and Eric Gordon.

I'll add that he has a higher 3P% than Al Horford, Jayson Tatum, Terry Rozier, Jaylen Brown, and Gordon Hayward.

Smart had better 3 point shot percentage than Tatum for the season so far. Slight but better. So shouldn’t be surprised.
