Seems to me our biggest challenge to beating the Warriors is finding someone who can defend KD well. I’ve yet to see someone who can the past couple of seasons as his gave has evolved to a different level.

That was the only reason the Kawhi trade interested me, really.

Jaylen Brown showed promise especially in the Home game last season vs Warriors. But sample size too small.

The incredible length and athleticism of Williams certainly has to be considered a potential weapon for neutralizing KD. Maybe not this season, but at some point.

Rockets put Cappella on him with mixed results.

Curious what others think about this idea?

I want to see him guard anybody before I think he may be KD or LeBron kryptonite. I mean cmon, how many veteran NBA players have success against either of these two and we think he may be somebody's kryptonite? I see a rookie like most that will enter a game and get 3 fouls before he breaks a sweat. Let's give him a little time.

Give him time.

I love what we have to throw at KD in the PRESENT..

Marcus Smart can guard him in stretches and play physical with him.

Jaylen Brown...even Al Horford in stretches.

It will take TEAM Defense to slow down KD and the Warriors and we have the weapons (when healthy) to do just that.

KD pretty much can shoot over the top of every player. Will be interested to see him match up against RW. KD will fake him out of his shorts, draw fouls no doubt, until the kid learns the pro game and all the tricks.

I’m very intrigued with his incredible length and athleticism, especially defensively.

If Williams was projected to be able to guard elite NBA SFs, along with PFs and Cs, he would have been picked in the top half of the lottery.  It’s a pretty big ask.

Baby steps with Robert Williams. He should first learn how to get out of bed on time.

Maybe we did, in Tatum.

R Dubs is gonna be interesting as a rim protector. Hadn't thought of him as someone to guard in space on the perimeter.

It is, but he fell because of concerns about his attitude and work ethic, not talent.

I'm most concerned about getting this kid to grow up and realize his potential.

Other than catching lobs, and altering shots at the rim, I'd say his best skill as a prospect is his ability to move his feet and stay in the air space of shooters on the perimeter. The only big in this class who is better right now at that skill was JJJ.

I'm not saying we stick him on KD by any means. But in the modern switch defense era, he shouldn't be viewed as a liability like most big men with his length. With patience I think he could develop into a very good overall defender.

while i am certainly not an expert on robwill's perimeter defense, scouts raved about it. and in the one game i watched along with some videos - yes, he can guard even point guards. his feet are that quick.

i like him as the 27th pick. great the celtics got him. but it may take him a year or two to really get up to speed with the nba. but we shall see soon enough.
I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

Ease of the green cool aid Cs fans.

This guy needs to remember to wake up first to actually make the game.

He wont be able to guard KD from Portland, Maine....

I'm quite bullish on Williams but talking about him as KD kryptonite is one of the silliest posts I've seen on here and that is a pretty high bar.
