this is a trade that makes sense for both teams. Collins is their 4th PG and would fit well on the Cs as a 2nd or 3rd PG. He can also defend SGs, and play along side House who would then defend the 1.

the Clips need help at the 2 behind Gordon, and considering that they want to push the pace more this year TA could be a good fit.

I would do that.

Tony Allen is hard to give away much less get any value from. Getting rid of Tony Allen is always a plus but I don't think you could even get a third string player for him. The Pacers won't take him for nothing.

Don't let the hate make you blind. Tony is a better player and a more productive player than Mardy Collins. Upgrade not downgrade.

the pacers don't want him because because of their fear of character issues / their proximity to chicago.

tony takes alot of grief on this board but he's certainly a solid on-ball defender and a guy who can finish in transition. they had fred jones on the team for the same reason last year. he's fair value for mardy collins. these two teams just have different needs.

Tony ( headfake) Allen is a so so defender with a very low BBIQ...

Complete exaggeration. This is only particularly true with the Pacers. I'm sure that there are plenty of teams that would have no problem trading players for some cap relief and have no problem with having TA and paying him 2.5 million this year and be done with it.

Currently, TA's biggest asset is his expiring contract, and the Pacers are not getting cap relief from him (in fact, by signing and trading Daniels they'll increase their payroll)... so they have little incentive in wanting TA, especially with his off-court problems.

Exactly.  Tony's value is in saving other teams money.  If he is not used for that, then it is minimal.

Other than he's a useful player. His "bad" play has been very overstated in this board. Thing is, he's not a player people are simply going to make moves for just to have him, his good contract is his biggest value, and he should be able to contribute to any team he goes to that wants him to.

And here's some food for thought for those that like to call him "Turnover Tony"... in our last two playoff runs, he has played a total of 120 minutes and only turned the ball over twice total; shooting 54.17% from the floor.

Don't cut the man short. Tony numbers overall are better than Posey's in 2008. He is not the same impact player, but does produce.

Collins, when he got his chance, was better then Tony.

Plus, unlike Tony, he can be the PG next to House while defending the other teams SG.

He produces a lot of TOs.
