Statik Selektah isn't a rapper.  But IMO he is currently putting out the best hip hop of anyone from New England.  By far
When I'm in the gym...I like to grunt when  I get my swell on... That way everyone can see how jacked and tan I am.

Guru in a coma:

He is recovering now and out of his coma. I wonder if we will ever see him make music again

My bad, looks like he came out of the coma yesterday. I should have dug a little deeper before posting.

Check out this local hip hop artist Kabir (I think he's from Cambridge).  He has done work with Mr. Lif, Akrobatik, Esoteric, Ed O G, as well as collaborating with many other bands and musicians.  His music is hip hop with a funky/soulful/world music fusion.  The rhymes and beats are fresh, and his most recent album has some cool Boston-themed art work.

Check out snippets from his new album "The Time is Now" here:

It is also available at all Newbury Comics Stores, or by doing a search for "Kabir, hip hop" in the iTunes store.

I know someone briefly mentioned Sam Adams, but he's blowing up right now as he managed to have the number one hip-hop album on iTunes while being unsigned.  That's impressive.  He's 22, born in Cambridge, and goes to Trinity College in Hartford.  Here are two articles, both from the past week or so:

Forgot about him for a second, but is anyone familiar with M-Dot? He seems to be a really cool guy, he was on Maxim's hot 100 list. I shot a few messages to him over myspace, and he gave me a lot of little tips and info on rapping and everything like that.

Think he's living in Lynn, Ma now.

D-Tension

I'm not sure if Vinnie Paz was using the "street" term when he called D-Tension his cousin in a Jedi Mind song, but does anyone know if they're actually related? (I haven't personally listened to D-Tension, or really know anything about him)
I dont know if anyone has heard of Raw Produce. They are a group, since disbanded consisting of Cadence (MC) and Pitch (producer).

Cadence still releases music I think.

Oh yeah you forgot Scientifik. He was killed in his early 20's in the 90's but he was on his way up. He was VERY talented.

That dude's pretty nice. I like it, especially that RZA joint.
