Can't we think of getting rid of pictorial signatures?

Most forums already don't even allow pictures as a signature for forum posts. People already have an avatar to express themselves. The signatures take up far more space than the average post, they're marginally funny and get old quick, reading these forums just is not a great experience when I have to constantly scroll and weed out the actual content from all these pictures.

Just something to think about I could very well be in the minority.

If you go to your profile under 'look and layout preferences'; you can make it so you do not see the signatures.

I, for one, love most of the pictures used in signatures.

You have a dog that can see pictures on a computer screen and cares about them?

Sigs are here to stay, but as wdleehi said, users have the option of turning them off.

I personally like them.  They're just another way of members showing their individuality.

On a related note, members who have non-conforming (i.e., too large) signatures should think about changing them.  We usually begin stricter enforcement of these rules after the draft, but we'd appreciate it if people could save us some work by self-policing.
