My biggest concern, aside from missing a very good player, is the time it will take to reintegrate Hayward into the team.

Man, this sucks.
At least it's a matter of reintegration into a team with good chemistry!

Yes it different this team because he has played with these guys for a year now unlike then when he just had a few preseason games.

Anyway it seem Stevens said they will see if surgery is needed but if it does it kight shorten the timeline. It will certainly give us a few more losses we shouldnt have, and it certainly impacts hayward's all-star appearance, but at least its not as bad as last time.

The all-star appearance is the last thing on my list of achievements if I was Hayward. A pointless game where everyone just plays all offense. Win NBA Finals is more important.

I guess if there is any "good" out of this, it's that it's not something that's significant or season-ending. But yeah, I think it's fair to plan for him to be out at least a month, but more like 6-ish weeks all together  :-\

Brad Stevens knows more about the injury than we do, and although he said there's no timeline until Hayward meets with the specialist, Brad expects him to be back in a few weeks to a month.

that sounds close if there is nothing more complicated

That pick by Aldridge was dirty. The league should review it and suspend or fine him.

Well, I will say this. This is the 2nd time the Spurs have gotten VERY physical with the Celts. They did it last year as well when Bellinelli waffled Kyrie right in the face.

It's games like tonight where I wish we had a Robert Parish to lay down some law.

And Brad and the Celts shouldn't even have bothered embracing Popovich after the game. I would've told the team, "guys after the game is over, let's just get the hell off the court and get the hell out of here."

....and an opportunity for players to recruit one another.

I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

That pick by Aldridge was dirty. The league should review it and suspend or fine him.

It was rightfully called an offensive foul, but it wasn’t dirty.  Just not executed in time so he was rotating into Hayward’s momentum and just caught him funny.  Unfortunate, but was definitely a basketball play.

Even with my green googles on it just looked like a freak injury.

That’s not what he said in the post-game. He punted to the doc evaluation tomorrow.

he did say it. even said surgery could speed up the time table.

edit: not "expect" but said that type of timetable.

No he said a "few weeks, or a month, whatever it is." Thats clearly him spit balling because he doesn't know. He did say surgery could speed things up, but surgery also comes with the potential for complications like infection. It sounds like 4 weeks with surgery, 6 weeks without is a general timetable.

If it wasn't for bad luck, he wouldn't have no luck at all… :(

There's something about my plane flights and Hayward breaking one of his bones.  The day he broke his leg I was flying to Hawaii.  I checked the score when I got off the plane to find that the Celtics were not only losing to the Cavs, but Hayward was lost for the season just 6 minutes into it.  Today I get off a flight to learn that Hayward broke his hand.  I don't fly often.

Sorry guys.

Gutted for G but he'll be back. Without knowing the nature of the fracture it's hard to tell how long he will miss. It's usually anywhere from 3 to 6 weeks. It typically only requires surgery if the broken pieces of bone need to be realigned with metal plates, which I think was the nature of Baynes' injury. In that case it might take a little longer. Again all depends on what was fractured. In Curry's case the injury was to one of his metacarpals and so required surgery with a return of 8 - 12 weeks.

Let's hope it's just a hairline fracture and nothing's out of place. I missed the game so didn't see how he got injured but I'm hoping it's just that and he will just need to immobilize it and miss a few weeks.

EDIT: Apparently this isn't the first time Gordon has suffered a fracture to his left hand - it happened in the preseason of 2016-17, which was his All-Star season. He suffered a fracture in preseason and missed about a month (6 games of the season). Let's hope it's similar this time.
