"The Great Warrior Skanderbeg" (1953), Soviet-Albanian production about the eponymous hero.

Interesting movie if you want to understand Albanian history, although at times I almost fell asleep. The dialogues were slow paced by today's standards, and unfortunately, the strongest part of the movie (photography) is hard to appreciate - the available YouTube video is at a very low quality. If you speak German there is a German version at better quality, from the DDR times, also on YouTube.

This is obviously the Albanian version of events, it's not exactly charitable towards the Venetians or the Ottomans, but this is to expect in a national hero biopic.

Also, for some reason they made Laonikos Chankokondyles 20-30 years older than he actually was.

Dirty Dancing I watched a lot as a kid, we watched it at children parties.

The other ones you mention I never heard of, but maybe they have a diff title in Greek.

I love Beetlejuice, that is the parts where Michael Keaton appears. The rest is amusing but nothing special IMO.

Unsane

Super creepy. Wasn’t terrible, but just had such a weird vibe and afterfeeling.

Tomb Raider. The new one. It's okay for a red box rental but I would have been disappointed if I went to the theaters to watch it. Very predictable story and scenes.

The Foreigner, seems to have been under the radar, but that's quite a cool movie to watch.

I watched Dirty Dancing for the first time a few years ago. I was pretty surprised how much back alley abortion there is in a movie I always thought was designed for families. Pretty good movie, though.

Beetlejuice, I love. One of my favorites.

I watched Sicario 2 this weekend. It's getting some pretty scathing reviews accusing it of, basically, fearmongering but if you go in with the expectation that it's just an action flick, it's very well made with terrific performances and tells a good story. Just don't think about it oo hard, I guess.

The wife won't let our 11 year old watch Dirty Dancing yet.

Makes sense.

In Greece, they typically removed the foul language in the subtitles. That's how a lot of shows got away with it in the 80s and 90s.

I don't want much TV these days, but my impression is it happens less often, I imagine ppl speaking better English plays a part in it.

Chapaev (1934) (I have some spoilers below)

Soviet socialist realism film about a Red Army commander and his unorthodox methods during the Russian Civil War. Vasily Chapaev (who existed IRL) was popular with the peasants, but did not always adhere to military orthodoxy. The movies moral is that despite his charisma he is finally doomed because of being out of touch with modern warfare - and of course it is the Red Army led by political commissars that emerges triumphant.

It was extremely popular when first screened in the USSR (30 mill viewers according to wikipedia) and remains a classic of Russian cinema to this day. It attracted a varied audience: was very popular among anarchists in Republican Spain, but also one of Stalin's favourite films.

Nice movie if you are into war movies and/or Soviet interwar films.

Chapaev as he appears in the movie.
