Anyone else surprised at how well Toronto is doing?

Kawhi is gone and then last night they beat the Lakers without Lowry and Ibaka.

Siakam is definitely a shoo-in All star this year. the Raptors will remain atop 5 team in the East despite Kawhi's loss.

I'm surprised at the leap Siakam and Fred Van Jordan made, they're buoying Toronto's offense alongside Lowry. But I expected their defense to be elite.

You mean VanVleet? Yeah, those 2 guys are keepers (especially Siakam)

Not really.  They are a very deep team.  It is what made them so good last year.  I don't know how good they can be in the playoffs though unless Siakam continues to make strides and ends up as a true #1 type player.
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

Another team like the Celtics with serious flaws, in other words.

they have less overall flaws, though Walker, right now, is the best player on either team.

After last night’s game, the Celtics have moved up to #2 in the league in offensive rating, behind only our opponent, the Mavericks.  This despite being 13th in eFG% and TS%, and 26th in OREB%. Not turning the ball over (we’re first in the league by a significant margin) goes a long way.  Hopefully this ball security is sustainable.

It's a hallmark of CBS teams. I think there is a correlation between the low turnover rate and the low free throw shooting rate, though. They take what the defense gives them, which minimizes turnovers, but it also doesn't put guys in a position to draw fouls.

Where do we now rank in defensive rating?

Which could be dangerous in the high variance game known as the playoffs. You need a decent FT rate to keep your offense afloat when you're facing stingy playoff defenses who spend weeks analysing your offense, although our current offense generates some really open looks that even average players should make with ease, which should keep our offensive floor decently high simply because a lot of shots we take are very makeable.s

8th.

Overall the Celtics have the highest +/- differential between offensive and defensive rating in the league, which is very impressive +9.5, over 2 points better than the closest team.
