How is it the Celtics have one of the epic jerseys in all of sports, but wear the most gawd-awful "city edition", whatever the hell they are called. If we have to wear one per Nike and League policies, can't we keep them simple and sharp and not stray too far from the regular unis ???? Seems other teams have done that each year, our hated rivals Lakers, Sixers & Knicks of all teams (though apparently the 76er jersey shown for this year is one of the worst looking shirts I have ever seen, looks like a bad rec league uni).

Who is responsible for these designs, the team or does Nike force them upon us ?
The Four Celtic Generals:
Russell - Cowens - Bird - Garnett

The Four Celtic Lieutenants:
Cousy - Havlicek - McHale - Pierce

I don’t love this year’s version, but I don’t hate it, and think it’s still near the top of the designs this year.  Did they use Comic Sans for Brooklyn?  Miami’s looks like the letters are cut out of a magazine like a letter a serial killer would write.  I’m not sure when Milwaukee adopted Orlando’s color scheme, and I have no idea why the Blazers and Spurs are both teal.

  • TRANSFORMATION INTO CHAMPION COMPLETE!!!
Suns, Blazers are fire.

Mavs, Spurs next tier down.

Celtics needed a big departure for these, we don't have to be green.

I have to say the Celtics version is awful.

I hate the brown trim. Hate it. And the font stinks. Letters too close together.

I don't like the font; as footey said, it appears to be squeezed in.

I don't mind the trim, though.  It reminds me of our St. Patty's Day alternative jerseys.

A lot of these are heinous, as usual.

• Why is Miami still going with the serial-killer jersey?
• Why green for Portland? And what does PDX come from?
• Why light blue for Phoenix?
• Why more pastels for San Antonio? Especially when pastels look really dated? The new jersey reminds me of the ugly 1996 all-star jerseys:

• New York's looks pretty much like their regular unis.
• Brooklyn's is a hot mess that looks like the work of an amateur or a 3-year-old.
• Why has black become a Clippers color?
• Not really a fan of having "City of Brotherly Love" and "The Land" on a jersey.
• If New Orleans is going to use the Jazz's colors, they might as well go back to being the Jazz (which they should do anyway, IMO).
• The only ones that jump out as "good" to me are Dallas and Milwaukee.

As for Boston's ... meh. Why that script? And why gold, especially when they already have gold in a St. Patrick's Day uniform? Boston's should have yellow, like they did with the 2018 edition:

These aren’t my least favorite Celtics city edition jerseys. That’s a low bar.

I would love, LOVE, FOR ONCE, for the team to lean into something non-shamrock/Ireland/green-oriented. Boston is an old, storied city. We have three other iconic sports teams. There’s nothing else we can do?

You're telling me you don't refer to teams by their airport codes?  Get with the times man.

I'm personally looking forward to the PDX-MSY game next season to see Dame vs CJ.

Celtics really need to get some new art talent in the organization. There are amateurs on reddit and ig with concept designs that run circles around anything we seem to be willing to produce.

I must be a real stick in the mud because I'm tired of the jersey variations.  just stick to the traditional home and away jerseys.  that's all they need.

just another blatant money grab based on a marketing ploy

according to the Celtics, they will unveil a special Bill Russell tribute 2022-23 City Edition uniform on opening night– a project that the league and team had been collaborating on with Russell himself in recent years - which they will wear a total of 12 times this season

Please don't suck.

Traditional is my preference as well. We shouldn't have to go through a yearly process of learning how to visually identify which teams we're seeing on the TV screen. "Hmm, who's green? Celtics? NOPE. Blazers!" Makes perfect sense.
