Because the NRA is America's largest basketball sponsor.
It takes me 3hrs to get to Miami and 1hr to get to Orlando... but I *SPIT* on their NBA teams! "Bless God and bless the (Celts)"-Lady GaGa (she said gays but she really meant Celts)

You should have your own sub-forum for these threads. Meandering thoughts might be a good title.

somewhere out there, I hear Beavis and Butthead saying:

"why do they call it taking a dump instead of leaving a dump. I mean, it's not like you are actually taking it anywhere."

would you suggest something different? Like "project" or "lob" or "arc" or "mortar"?

I think to ballyhoo the quiffle sounds too British and to lancez la ballon sounds too french.

  • Be the posts you wish to see in the world.
This reminds me of when the reporter at the Olympics asked Karl Malone why a basket was worth 2 points.

I'll go further...why is it when it's during actual game play it's called "shooting", but when you're at the charity stripe it's called a "throw"? Why is it called a "dribble" instead of a "bounce"?

Is this really what they're teaching you kids in school these days?

Oh, the horror!  Someone called a list of items "bullets".  Be afraid, very afraid!
