I'll never forget the hype about this kid, and how he would single-handedly re-energize the Celtics franchise ... and he would have, as he was that good. I was so stunned when he died ... really. Talk about the air going out of the balloon ... Red was devastated, too ... he had so many hopes and dreams built around Len. Man, I would have loved to have seen that kid develop ... so sad. For those who aren't familiar with Len Bias and this tragedy, you should really try and catch this show ... it's a great inside look at what went down, and what led up to Len's death.

  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
I'm gonna watch this, and I'm gonna be sad, then angry, then frustrated. Then I will watch a live game where we blow them apart, and I will be a little less sad, but not much less angry or frustrated.

But LeBron James is so much better with Steroids....

It lets him live off being way more athletic than everyone.
Grab a few boards, keep the TO's under 14, close out on shooters and we'll win.

without defending his actions, nor do i condone any coke use but....that a pretty drastic over-simplification and fails to account for the era in which it happened in and the circumstances under which it happened.  Both of which i am sure the espn special captures.

in 2009, yes it sounds absurd to think a top pick would risk so much to celebrate, but a lot has changed in 23 years.

TP Truck. The culture at that time for kids that age was completely different. So was the knowledge available for what coke use could do to you, even if you weren't a big coke user.

tp right back at you....hence the reason Bias became the poster child for the ramifications of coke use, his tragic death eliminated the "using it once cant kill you" myth

Drug abuse, then and now, affects people of every race, age and creed ... intelligence or social status has nothing to do with it. He made a mistake, like all of us do from time-to-time ... unfortunately that mistake took his life. RIP, Len.

That was a bad time for college basketball players, coke and heart problems. Chris Washburn, William Bedford, Reggie Lewis and remember Hank Gathers at Loyola Marymount.

Was coke considered an issue with Hank G's death?
