Willingness for this trade would depend on how how both teams are performing to start the season. Both players could be swapped for each other straight up in March. Joe Harris would be a better fit than Marcus Smart on this roster (specifically to fit with Brown and Tatum) as a low usage / high efficiency player. Marcus Smart may be a better fit for the Nets with his defensive presence and Kyrie Irving’s short comings on that end, though it remains to be seen how the Nets will mesh. Possible idea which could help both teams down the road. Thoughts?

You just drafted Nesmith so pass on Harris for Smart.

Harris just signed a 4 year/$75 million contract days ago. So not only do the contracts not match up, there’s likely rules prohibiting the Nets from trading him until mid-season (and they also wouldn’t want to do that).

Well we do know that Kyrie enjoys playing with Marcus. So I say no. Absolutely not.

The Nets could trade him in March.

It surprised me, but the salaries are close enough that the Cs could swap them straight up.

No way, not for the money Harris just got. 4 years with an average salary of nearly $19m a year is a huge overpay for a low usage shooter who has never averaged over 15PPG. Would prefer to feed the minutes to Nesmith
'23 Historical Draft: Orlando Magic.

PG: Terry Porter (90-91) / Steve Francis (00-01)
SG: Joe Dumars (92-93) / Jeff Hornacek (91-92) / Jerry Stackhouse (00-01)
SF: Brandon Roy (08-09) / Walter Davis (78-79)
PF: Terry Cummings (84-85) / Paul Millsap (15-16)
C: Chris Webber (00-01) / Ralph Sampson (83-84) / Andrew Bogut (09-10)

The fact that he is low usage / high efficiency is what makes him valuable.

I agree that Smart is better in those areas. Trade comes down to what you value on this team. For me, I value Harris’ discipline and high efficiency. With this team going forward, both Tatum’s and Brown’s usage (Brown’s specifically) need to go up and their playmaking needs to improve.

I think Smart shooting drops this year as JB, JT, and TT go up, along with nesmith and others.  His play making and defense take priority.  He will defer.

We have a harris in Nesmith (Potentially)
Brown and Tatums usage will go up by the riddance of Hayward.

It is, but at $18.75m a season he goes from valuable to albatross quickly. He's also 3 years older than Smart
