Ainges last 3 star point guards:

Kemba: degenerative knee
Kyrie: degenerative knee?
IT: degenerative hip

The medical team needs a serious review on how this keep reoccuring. Who keeps approving these guys and missing career ending red flags ?

Kemba becomes an untradable albatross if this condition truly becomes worse and worse

I'm assuming they knew 100% but they think it can be managed through some load management.  If this is the case, then  I'm ok with it but the story might be the same every year come playoff time ("kemba was playing hurt and that's why he wasn't as good sometimes"

To win championships in this league, you need star small-forwards and star centers.

You can get by with a mediocre point guard.

Now we know why Charlotte wasn't so eager to hold onto him. Ugh.
Nice job by the Celtics medical staff once again.
At this point, might it not be worth it to bring in IT for training camp?

Why not a star guard like Kemba?

There's no full recovery from arthritis. Kemba will be patched every time if pain starts. Lots of steroids/injections. Not good.

Has it been reported that his problem is arthritis?

Listening to Stevens talk it certainly sounds like the knee is an issue that is going to require maintenance.
Seems like he won't be 100% healthy for the remainder of his career. This is terrible news. Kemba is an undersized explosive guard. He relies on athleticism in order to beat his opponent 1-on-1.

Call me cynical, but if I were Danny I would be looking to dump Kemba while his trade value is relatively high. With Hayward gone and Kemba developing arthritis in his left knee, I believe we should focus on building around the Js.

I was pro shutting down Kemba last year. This is bad if isn't just an injury to recover from. It's not just on C's to mange this but Walker. He can't say he is fine when he feels like he should sit. Listen to his body and medical staff.

I've always said that our peak is 2-3 years away. We should focus on developing Pritchard, Langford, Nesmith, Grant Williams, Robert Williams alongside Tatum, Brown (and Smart).

Thus I don't believe our championship dreams get crushed if Kemba Walker's arthritis becomes worse and worse.
Nonetheless it would still be a major blow to be paying $108M/3 for a guy who can't be relied on.

Obviously also feel sorry for Kemba  :'(. Still he has already played over 23.000 minutes in the NBA, it's not uncommon for a guard with great athletism to face longterm injuries at this point in a career I think.

This is why I was pushing for a PG at 14.  Thrilled drafted Nesmith, but PG is going to become a major issue if Walker misses extended time.  We might get an extended look at Edwards, Teague, and Pritchard very early unless a magical S+T with Charlotte drops us another PG.
