Curious about what people want the team to look like next year. Through free agency acquisitions, trades, whatever.

1. I think Kanter will be traded. Brad doesn't seem to value his skill-set, and his salary is super tradeable to the right team. Many have proposed to Memphis - sounds good to me. Get a trade exception.

2. Sign & trade Hayward (4 years, $90m) to Indiana for Myles Turner & Doug McDermott. Not ideal, and I'm no fan of Turner, but he's a potential trade chip down the track and could be better under Brad.

3. Sign Alec Burks with the MLE and Ersan Ilyasova with the BAE, if he'd take it. If he wouldn't, try James Ennis. Sign Boogie Cousins with the Vet Min.

That would leave us with this team:

Kemba Walker / Payton Pritchard / Tremont Waters
Marcus Smart / Romeo Langford / Carsen Edwards
Jaylen Brown / Alec Burks / Aaron Nesmith
Jayson Tatum / Doug McDermott / Ersan Ilyasova
Myles Turner / Daniel Theis / DeMarcus Cousins

Ojeleye and Tacko as depth. If Boogie shows he can still play then that team is really strong.

Which way would you guys like us to play this free agency period?
'23 Historical Draft: Orlando Magic.

PG: Terry Porter (90-91) / Steve Francis (00-01)

SF: Brandon Roy (08-09) / Walter Davis (78-79)
PF: Terry Cummings (84-85) / Paul Millsap (15-16)

1. Trade Kanter somewhere if Brad really doesn't want him.

2. Re-sign Hayward or S&T him to a team for a centre who can split the 48 minutes with Theis.

3. If we can't re-sign Hayward, sign Danilo Gallinari for the full MLE, DJ Augustin for the veteran minimum and Jeff Green for the veteran minimum.

Roster:
PG: Kemba Walker / DJ Augustin / Fast PP
SG: Jaylen Brown / Marcus Smart / Romeo Langford
SF: Jayson Tatum / Aaron Nesmith / Semi Ojeleye
PF: Danilo Gallinari / Grant Williams / Jeff Green
C: Myles Turner or Clint Capela / Daniel Theis / Robert Williams
Jaylen Brown for All-NBA

Capela would be a much more preferable target, good call. Would love to see us with an elite rebounder, even if his ball skills are somewhat limited. The return of Jeff Green would be interesting.

Somehow getting Gallo would be fantastic. Not sure if he’d be available for that cheap sadly. I like Augustin - experienced vet who can score

If Hayward signs a long-term contract with the C's:

- Dump Kanter for cap relief + whatever future pick(s) we can get.
- Sign Nerlens Noel.

PG: Kemba - Smart - Pritchard
SG: Brown - Romeo - Edwards
SF: Hayward - Nesmith - meh
PF: Tatum - Grant - Semi
C: Theis - Timelord - Noel

If Hayward gets traded to the Knicks/Hawks for a TPE:

- Use the newly created TPE + Timelord to trade for Christian Wood. It would have to be a sign and trade.
- Again, dump Kanter. Replace him with Noel.

PG: Kemba - Pritchard - meh
SG: Brown - Smart - Edwards
SF: Nesmith - Romeo - meh
PF: Tatum - Grant - Semi
C: Wood - Theis - Noel

Alternatively, we could start Smart over Nesmith. I just think this would be a more functional lineup.

Don't like the Indy trade. Hayward is hands down the best player in the trade. Obviously, I'd rather take that deal than let him walk.

The full MLE isn't chump change so I think if Gallo really meant what he said a while ago (he said he'd forgo salary in order to join a title contender) he would jump on the opportunity to join us - he would have the extra bonus of getting to play a pretty significant role for us while he'd probably be an awkward fit on teams like LAL.

And yeah Capela would be someone who I'd want if we had to trade Hayward - he's a fantastic lob finisher, strong rim protector and is mobile enough to somewhat guard the perimeter. To me Uncle Jeff and Augustin are underrated veterans who have really specialised skillsets that can help high level teams at this point in their careers, I'd love to have them round out our bench next season.
Jaylen Brown for All-NBA

What happened with Grant and Timelord? Did we just dump them to sign Ilyasova and Boogie? :P

I assume you mean that Semi would be playing for the Claws? Imo, he'd definitely find a new NBA team. He ain't a talented offensive player, but he's a serviceable 3+D wing.

I will play!!

1- Kanter is gone, unfortunately. I really like his alot as a person off the court. But not really needed.
So Kanter to Phoenix for Cameron Payne. Phoenix doesnt need Payne as they have lots of PGs, They could use a bench center. Boston doesnt need Kanter as there are kind of alot of centers, can use a backup pg

2. The Hayward deal. Its a pretty big one.
Hayward resigns starting at 22 million per season and gets traded to Indiana WITH Kevin Looney for Turner, McDermott and McConnell.
Indiana sheds a couple of million off the books. Get a center back and get Hayward.

Brogdon
Dipo
Hayward
Sabonis
Looney/Goga

Problem is Turner isnt really an improvement on Theis.....

So Turner and McConnell are shipped off the the Warriors where he should be welcomed with open arms. He fits them very well. McConnell gives them a backup PG

Curry
Wiggins
Oubre
Draymond
Turner

Celtics receive Wiseman (Who they apparently coveted at draft) and a good shooter sf/pf off the bench in McDermott. Gain about 4 million in capsaving.

Looks like this

Ideally would love to see team be able to nab Wood for the MLE but not sure that is enough to get him (Maybe but he would be stupid to leave money on the table, imo) so the MLE/BAE would have to go to a steady vet PG and a backup wing.
My bet is on a point from the list of: Teague, Augustin, Harrison, Trey Burke
and a wing from the list of: RHJ, MKG, Ennis, Ellington, Temple, GR3

Kemba/PP/MLE or BAE
Smart/Romeo/Edwards
Brown/Nesmith/MLE or BAE
Tatum/McDermott/GrantW
Theis/Wiseman/Timelord

2wp - Tacko and Waters

'21 Historical Draft
PG: Kyle Lowry / Mookie Blaylock / Mark Jackson
SG: Reggie Miller / Jeff Hornacek / Nick Anderson
SF: George Gervin / George McGinnis / Kyle Korver
PF: Connie Hawkins / Serge Ibaka / Josh Smith
C: Clint Capela / Bill Laimbeer / Jusuf Nurkic

Big fan of wood. Not sure Noel is needed, so just dump Kanter for capspace.

A Hayward sign and trade TPE should be enough to nab Wood plus another backup PF (25 mill TPE, 17 to wood, 8 to Millsap or a much smaller amount to Giles)

Bring back Semi and Green (cheap, know the system)

I almost would do this lineup though just for skill sets.

Kemba/Smart/PP
Brown/Romeo/Edwards
Tatum/Nesmith/Green
GrantW/Millsap/Semi
Wood/Theis/Timelord

Team is pretty lethal imo.
Bench is potentially a playoff team.

You've gotta give up on Wiseman, lol. He's not going to be a Celtic.

Gouki - I think you're rotation is pretty good. Burks and Tatum are close and he'd have an obvious role here, so it's a possibility. My tweaks:

Kemba Walker / Payton Pritchard / Tremont Waters
Marcus Smart / Aaron Nesmith / Romeo Langford
Jaylen Brown / Alec Burks
Jayson Tatum / Doug McDermott / Jeff Green
Myles Turner / Daniel Theis / Harry Giles

Idk what to do with Carsen - don't think he's a rotation guy. I got rid of Boogie because it seems the C's have never been interested. I think Giles is a safer target in terms of locker room fit at the vet min. I'd offer Jeff Green the BAE instead of Ersan.

I just dont like Turner on this team. So trying to figure out who wants him.

Theis exceeded Turners numbers in every statistical category last season with the exception of 3 pointers attempted and blocked shots.

If we lose Hayward without any meaningful return, I feel we are going to be a 3rd or 4th seed team in the East, and will lose in the 2nd round.

Go ahead and play with the lineups.  It is pretty discouraging.  We seem to be taking a major step backwards.
