Is Wesley Mathews an option?
He's got a player option worth $2.7m, which I doubt he'd take. Not sure how much he'd get offered
'23 Historical Draft: Orlando Magic.

PG: Terry Porter (90-91) / Steve Francis (00-01)
SG: Joe Dumars (92-93) / Jeff Hornacek (91-92) / Jerry Stackhouse (00-01)
SF: Brandon Roy (08-09) / Walter Davis (78-79)
PF: Terry Cummings (84-85) / Paul Millsap (15-16)
C: Chris Webber (00-01) / Ralph Sampson (83-84) / Andrew Bogut (09-10)

He should be considered if the team let's Wanna go. He is experienced and was a decent starter at one point in his career. Guys like that can be very good off the bench.

He's still a decent starter. I mean, he was a decent starter this season for the Bucks (=legit contending team).

Having said that, Wanamaker is a ball handler whereas Matthews is a wing who plays almost exclusively off the ball. I don't see why we should consider Matthews as a Wanamaker replacement.

Taking whose minutes? If you are thinking Wanamaker, they don't play the same position. Matthews is not equipped to run an offense.

If you want his defense, Romeo is already a better defender than Matthews at this point in his career.

I like Wes Matthews but I’m not really sure what purpose he’d serve for us.

Yeah, I'd rather we give the backup SG minutes to Smart and Romeo. I guess Matthews can be used at SF as well, but I think he's at his best when playing at SG. My target at SF would be Saddiq Bey via the Memphis pick.

PG: Kemba - Smart - Wanamaker
SG: Brown - Romeo - Edwards
SF: Hayward - S. Bey - Semi

(assuming we won't dump Edwards)

Boogie Cousins for the minimum.
I totally forgot about Boogie. He could be like a super-Kanter, lol
I honestly believe Boogie is cooked. The injuries he had are absolutely debilitating. Also think he is Washington bound to reunite with John Wall.

To answer mostly the same question on Mathews role.

As a 2/3 he allows Smart to play more backup PG. Even Edwards and Langford can get more PG minutes. It's been my opinion for a while those two younger players are/were more effective with the ball and are good defenders at the 1. Smart himself is a good playmaker when asked to be a PG. I feel the less he identifies himself as the scorer the better the team will be. Mathews pushes guys into that role for BS who with Wanna on this club rarely allowed guys to do what I believe they are good at.

Also $ and identify is a huge thing. Mathews seems to be accepting of lower contracts and if you want vets that are still decent and not way over the hill your options are limited.

Hope that helps.

I'd happily see Wes Matthews gobble up Semi's 10MPG, but no more. Would like to see Romeo get more run next year.

However, if (hopefully not when) Romeo got hurt Wes could take on more minutes.

Wes isn't my #1 target, but he's still useful

Andre Drummond should be the target.
How, and more importantly why? Drummond is a fantastic rebounder, but he's a complete non-shooter, not very good at passing, and isn't as good a defender as he should be, despite some gaudy stats.

Embiid also owns him

Theis
Kanter (assuming he opts in)
Langford
Porier
Both Williams
Semi
Green
Edwards

Would match the salary, for the 1 year rental. Fill out the roster with veterans with playoff experience and try to get Theis back after his team option is not picked up. Go for it 1 more year with Hayward, Drummond and Walker on the books, if it doesn't end it a title. Let Drummond and Hayward walk.

When has a 9 for 1 trade ever, in the history of the NBA happened? That would give the Cavs a 19-man roster.

This leaves us with absolutely zero bench, which was one of our biggest weaknesses this playoff run. It also makes absolutely no sense for Cleveland, as they'd have to cut half their dang team
