Not gonna say rest in peace or anything but his kids just tweeted out that OJ Simpson passed away.

On April 10th, our father, Orenthal James Simpson, succumbed to his battle with cancer.

He was surrounded by his children and grandchildren.

During this time of transition, his family asks that you please respect their wishes for privacy and grace.

I wonder how many people that were cheering for him in '95 still feel the same about him all these years later.

Felt like it was the cool thing to cheer for OJ back then (at least that's how it felt for me while in junior high/high school), but taking it all in as an adult, seems so obvious that dude was guilty.

After 18 months with their Bigs, the Littles were: 46% less likely to use illegal drugs, 27% less likely to use alcohol, 52% less likely to skip school, 37% less likely to skip a class

Car chase was definitely one of those moments you remember where you were if you're of a certain age.  Along with Challenger explosion, 9/11, etc.

They announced the manhunt and didn't know where OJ was. My dad & I went to an arena football game at the Worcester Centrum (anyone remember the Massachusetts Marauders?) then went out for dinner at the Wonder Bar on Shrewsbury St. and watched the chase on TV there.  Everything in the restaurant was glued to the TV.  It was surreal.

I'm just upset he couldn't accomplish his goal of finding Nichole's real killer.

Unfortunately I think there is a split - those who stood by him and believed in his innocence , and those who lost all regard for him (as athlete, broadcaster, pitchman, etc).  I say unfortunately because I think that split is largely on racial lines.  I can only speak to it from my perspective as a white man.  I tend to believe he was guilty and though I admired him as a football player as a child, his exploits in that realm became irrelevant once he became a murderer.   Like Aaron Hernandez - the greatness of their athletic skill/achievement is meaningless.

What always astounded me was, not that he Murdered two people in cold blood-practically cutting off his own ex wife's head.....it was the fact that he actually got other women to date him after this. I mean, what kind of a moron do you have to be, to go on a date with this guy?

Other than old highlights, I never saw OJ play, but am aware of how great he was. I thought he was fantastic in the Naked Gun movies.

I do remember the breaking news of the Ford Bronco chase, and the court trial. It was truly fascinating TV. Back when I use to listen to the Jim Rome show, OJ was always a great (funny) running gag.

I believe he did committ the murders, but didn't believe he would be found guilty.

same type of women that marry or have long term relationships with convicted murderers in prison. Even Jeffrey Dahmer had women that wanted him while he was in prison.

I think the best response I've seen to this is someone saying at least OJ can rest peacefully knowing Nicole's killer is finally dead.
