On Al's initial go around with the C's did we underrate his value to the team and maybe in the league in general. There were some complaints that he wasn't living up to his contract. But is it possible that the team around him limited his opportunity to reach that value?
Waking up from a slumber to misunderstand another.

I think almost everyone appreciated him, other than the “average Al” bozos.

But, it was fair to let him walk at $28 million.

Maybe, but I’m just glad he’s back. I was hoping Since early last season that Kemba would be traded for him. Al looks as good as he ever had in green. Such a versatile player.

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

Al is fully rested , he practically never played , they paid 28 m to keep him off the Celtics was always my thought on that deal.

He looks as good as anytime he. Was on the C  be for to me .

Yeah, there was a contingent of fans who hated on him but I think most people understood how important he was to the success the team had at the time. I certainly did.

He is a true Celtic and should have his number retired one day. He went to the 76ers as a mole to sabotage them, I like that.

I guarantee his locker room leadership was missed too

The difference between having Al Horford vs having Daniel Theis is huge. I know that goes without saying (Al’s a former allstar and Theis has never even sniffed that level) but I really appreciate how much we’ve upgraded at that big position.

He’s like Draymond Green: if he’s your best player, you’re gonna be in the lottery. If he’s your supporting player, he elevates the rest of your team.

Average Al never missed the playoffs in his career until last year.  He is a multiplier as he just makes everyone else better, but he isn't the force.  As your 3rd or 4th scoring option, he does just fine.
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

Al is good and it’s nice to have him back, but we went as far with Kemba as we ever did with Al. Kemba’s scoring ability will be greatly missed, but hopefully mitigated a bit by the super-lucky Schroder signing. Kemba healthy is such a force and a better player than Al. We’ll see if he has a bounce-back year or not.

First year Kemba was better, not the In and out of the lineup Kemba from last year.  You can count on Al even at 35 much more than Kemba.

Kemba needs to pay well on offense to make a difference.  Al does not. Can contribute to winning even on an off night offensively.

Yet the C's are paying him nearly that much ($27M) now for a guy who is 3 years older.  It's OK for them to admit they made a mistake.
