Just saw this:

"The Indiana Pacers are 'juggling trade talks' involving Myles Turner, T.J. Warren, and the No. 13 pick in separate deals, per
@KevinOConnorNBA"

Smart/Langford??

Made up tweet that can never be proven wrong and will be endlessly promoted if correct?

If only our rookie GM hadn't jumped the gun with the Kemba trade. It seems like the Sixers might settle for picks unless Beal or Lillard becomes available. Kemba + Smart + multiple picks might have put us in the conversation. Never understood why Brad didn't wait till draft night. I miss Danny already.

That said, we still have the assets to pull this off. Smart + Fournier (signed and traded) + multiple firsts for Simmons. Couldn't care less about the picks. A big 3 of Tatum, Brown and Simmons would transform the C's into a legit contending team for years to come. I really believe the C's would be the perfect situation for Simmons.

It's a very real possibility that Stevens doesn't like Simmons, which seems to be the consensus around the league given the lack of offers the Sixers are able to receive for him.

#Timberwolves PG Ricky Rubio brilliant today, as Spain beat Argentina. Among teams doing trade due-diligence on him: #Celtics, #Clippers, #Lakers. Rubio finished today’s game with 26 points. Appears Leandro Bolmaro only got garbage time run for Argentina.

It's not just Simmons. Most deals happen on draft night/at the deadline for a reason. Teams are unwilling to lower their asking price prior to the draft night unless they are desperate to make a trade. It's when they run out of time on draft night that they finally compromise regarding their asking price. To put it another way, trade negotiations are like the game of chicken. Whomever backs down first loses the game. The C's backed down way too early and they got fleeced. Hate to say it, but our rookie GM made a rookie mistake.

I'd much rather have a gimpy Kemba Walker then Ben Simmons.

Good for you. I'd rather have Simmons than Kemba and 4 firsts (given that we already got Tatum and Brown).

The thing you haven't explained is why OKC would have more pressure on draft night. They are the ones offering to take the pressure off the teams that need to do something. They've sold off cap space multiple times. They weren't shopping around Horford, anxious to make a deal right away. They are years away from needing to do anything.

Horford and OKC had a tidy contract that allowed other teams to reduce their max mistakes for a fee.

OKC's leverage would have gone up on draft night, not down.

They wouldn't, but this is irrelevant. They didn't have pressure at the time of the trade either. We were the ones that forced the trade. OKC took Horford in a salary dump and they somehow got a mid first for him! Worst case scenario, I bet they'd still take our offer on draft night. Why wouldn't they? It's amazing value on their part. I mean, they didn't even want him on their team last season. They shut him down 28 games prior to the end of the season.

(Don't get me wrong, I like Horford's game.)

I believe we made the trade early so we could trade future draft picks more easily.

Apparently the Celtics are one of a few teams looking at a possible Ricky Rubio trade
5' 10" former point guard

Career highlight: 1973-74 championship, Boston Celtics

Career lowlight: traded for a washing machine
