I read that the Cavs are trying to cut salary and Nance fits nicely into our exception.

He's not worth the opportunity cost of taking on his contact. I see the potential fit but only in a follow up move to landing a big fish
His contract is really quite minimal, and he's a really solid forward. I would be absolutely fine with using the TPE on Nance

His contact has two years left so we wouldn't be able to offer a max next summer. I only give that up for an All Star player to pair with the Jays now... that's not Nance

His contract is easily moveable next summer if we need to open up a max slot. There are also several ways of opening a max slot.

couldn't we just trade him before having to pay the bigger contract?  For year and 1/2 he would be a good add at his current salary.

He fit great alongside Tatum & Brown

I could see a starting five of Horford, Nance, Tatum, Brown, Smart.

No. Horford needs to be the center.

Would we not have a max slot if we stretch Horford's partially guaranteed year? As well as letting Smart and Timelord walk?

Yeah, Horford would be the center and Nance at the big forward spot.

Trade Rumor.  Started by me, so aka a trade idea, but rumor sounds better.

Sources tell me Philly is interested in trading Ben Simmons to Sacramento for DeAaron Fox + Buddy Hield.  Not being told the specifics, but Simmons + G Hill + Seth Curry for Fox + Hield checks out in trade machine http://www.espn.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=yz2ptn2v

Starting rosters could be:
Philly -- Fox / Hield / Danny Green (resigned) / Tobias Harris / Embiid
Sacramento --  Simmons / Haliburton / Seth Curry / Harrison Barnes / Marvin Bagley
2020 CelticsStrong All-2000s Draft -- Utah Jazz

Finals Starters:  Jason Kidd - Reggie Miller - PJ Tucker - Al Horford - Shaq
Bench:  Rajon Rondo - Trae Young - Marcus Smart - Jaylen Brown -  Peja Stojakovic - Jamal Mashburn - Carlos Boozer - Tristan Thompson - Mehmet Okur

Seems the Lakers are really trying to get Buddy Hield.

Is there anyone the Lakers aren't rumored to be going after?

They're like the Knicks.

Hield makes a lot more sense for them than Westbrook.

Hope they don't get him. I reckon he'd be a great fit alongside LeBron and AD. His D leaves a lot to be desired, but he's a flamethrower from 3.

Yeah, by way of analogy he's the Glen Rice to Shaq and Kobe.

I’m hoping the Clippers enter the Hield sweepstakes. It seems they can offer a similar or slightly better package (Kennard+Mann+1st+filler?) than the Lakers. They get much needed shooting and keep him away from their city rival.
