not really relevant to draft workouts but it will be interesting to speculate how much Damon Stoudemire is used as a sounding board for some of these draft prospects. His college team played Gonzaga twice but all of their prospects are likely gone before #45 (maybe Ayayi is still available), they also played Pepperdine with Kessler Edwards. On 1/21/21 Pacific lost 68-85 to Pepperdine and Edwards went off for 37pts 11rb on 11-18shooting and 6-9 from 3. His is basically the same size Tatum was coming out of college and appears to play more of a stretch 4 role in college but at #45 a his size and shot are intriguing.

Stoudamire is 5'10". The more interesting question, to me, is whether he will be partial to small guards, and continue the Danny Ainge infatuation.

I think this would be beyond something he has a strong voice in.  Stevens is in charge of personnel now, and I can’t imagine that an assistant coach will have a much say on player acquisition.

From the reports on Brad the coach as a listener and collaborator I would be shocked if he didn’t ask his coaching staff about prospects. This is especially true in the case where the coaches team played a prospect multiple times and has hours of scouting on a player.

Oh sure, he’ll certainly listen and seek out input, and inasmuch as Stoudamire has seen a player in His college coaching, it would be foolish to not get his take.  I’m just saying that Damon Stoudamire isn’t going to be a deciding factor as to what players are acquired, especially in terms of player archetype (i.e. small, scrappy point guards).  That’s for Stevens and the player personnel department.

Marcus Garrett , is a combo guard with great size at over 6'5 in shoes 188lbs with a 6'9 3/4" WS. In the NBA offense will be a major question mark but should be a high level defender early in his career.

JT Thor Forward Auburn

I’m not sure when he workouted out in relation the the Celtics trading away there first but his workout was mentioned in an article listing Coopers workouts.

Thor is an athletic 4/5 who would be a project but his ceiling could be a really versatile switchable big.

I love Marcus Garrett. I hope we grab him or give him a camp invite if he goes undrafted. His defense is NBA ready.

One of the latest mocks had him going 40, so it's not out of the possibility.

I would love a Celtics jersey with Thor on the back.

Thor looks a little like Siakam.

Thor really impresses me with his PnR defence. Cuts off passing angles, has the athleticism to block shots / alley oops, uses his hips well and stays in front of guards. His weight and decision-making are of concern.

My high-end comparison for him is Josh Smith, but more realistically he reminds me of Anthony Randolph

Thor is a very interesting player. Have we had RaiQuan Gray or Queta in for workouts. Both of those big guys are just brutes.

Reeves in for workout.

Poor man's Booker?
Not a fan of Reaves. Awful shot selection, poor shooter from 3, weak defender, and he's already 23. I like the idea of picking mature-age guys if they look like they can contribute right away, and all Reaves can really contribute is his ability to drive. Not worth wasting a pick on, but would happily bring him into the G-League

It is interesting that Reaves points out in the interview that he was a much better 3pt shooter at Witchita st and attributes that to playing off the ball and shooting spot up 3s (42% on almost 4 attempts. At Oklahoma he has forced to have the ball in his hands and take more tough shots. This could actually bode well for him as his NBA role will be more in line with his Witchita st role.

I know it’s just a highlight video but this kids measurables, skills and stats look intriguing if he’s available at 45, but I’m curious to hear other people’s opinions. I hadn’t heard his name come up before and I haven’t looked at his efficiency numbers.

Do the C’s really need a rookie shooting guard when they already have a second year player in Nesmith and Langford going into his 3rd year? Also, the C’s drafting a player named David Duke...Media will have a field day with that one.
