C's will make the playoffs, very low risk of missing them.  more likely that they can't avoid play-in games if Jaylen's out for a while

all starters with huge negative +/-.  all Portland starters with huge positives +/-.  says a lot about the defensive effort from the starters.  Of course Smart killed them in stretches.  Jaylen also had some real issues.

Jaylen and Smart should've both taken a seat in this one.

Fournier said he's been feeling "really weird" since returning from COVID-19. Said it feels like he has a concussion. The bright lights were bothering his eyes and his vision was blurry. Everything going too fast for him. A bit better now but in some ways, "it's still the case."

this game was really decided on a few possessions with around 1:21 left in the game.
Tatum hit two fts to pull us to down 2 at 121-119 at 1:21 left.

Then 1) the bad def on Carmello and he hits that 3 I have no idea who was guarding him.  Then 2) the out of control Tatum play that he gets stuffed by Nurkic at 59 sec left.  Powell hits the tough layup after the Nurkic block on Tatum.  Then 3) Jaylen misses a 3 on the next possession.  Kind of 3 poor plays / poor mental mistakes in a row.

We needed to be taking the ball to the hoop strong at the end of that game.  Get to the ft line.  So disappointing.  We were down 2 and then lots of poor plays doomed us.

Cs fans should storm the court ManU style

American fans do not care that much.

Oh really ?

You probably weren't around for game 5 finals in 1976. Celtic fan even assaulted Richife Powers.

That was 45 years ago, don't see much of that in the US nowadays from where I sit

That's because nowadays they record everything and you get banned for life , along with criminal charges, for storming the court. Security at NBA arenas is some serious stuff.

Basically, you get treated worse than Marcus Smart was treated by the refs tonight.

How about when Stevens subs self-destructive Smart for Pritchard, which results in two 3's by Portland in between a Smart turnover. That killed us.

That's only because we haven't deteriorated quite to third-world culture. But we are getting there

The wide open three was due to Tatum getting lost on the rotation cheating in. That was all on him

I said it in the game thread at the time, that 5 point swing was all on Tatum. But everyone was to busy bashing Brown to notice.

Brown, Tatum, Smart all making crucial, dumb mistakes. Those three + Kemba are supposed to be making winning plays down the stretch.

Season in serious jeopardy right now if Brown/Tatum are not 100%. Real danger Cs miss the playoffs.

Might be a good thing for this team. Let it be a learning lesson that they should never crap up games against sub .500 teams, and always play at maximum effort and to never play for only one half. Respect the opponent whether they are extremely good or extremely poor.

I agree. Those two OKC losses are already haunting us, with the standings this close. I think JB should sit a couple of games out if needed. We have Fournier and Nessie to somewhat cover for him. We need our guys healthy for the playoffs.

With the play in format in place, the 7th and 8th seeds are practically the same right? They just need to win once to officially get the 7th seed? Am really not a fan of this format.

I believe it's a best of 3 series for the 7 vs 8 and 9 vs 10:
Winner of 7 vs 8 clinches 7th seed.
Loser of 7 vs 8 hosts the winner of 9 vs 10.
Winner of that clinches 8th seed.

So I think even if you have like a .520 record, you can still lose out to a sub .500 team but only in the East cuz "the East is weak." I don't like the play-in tourney either but it excites other fans and the rest of the league.

Though too bad at the end of the day, the 7th and 8th seed in the East will get rekt in the first-round.

It’s not best of 3.  It’s single game “series”.  7 hosts 8.  Winner advances, loser hosts the winner of 9 vs. 10.

From NBA.com
Q: When is the Play-In Tournament?
The Play-In Tournament will begin Tuesday, May 18 and conclude Friday, May 21. The teams with the seventh-highest and eighth-highest winning percentages in each conference will each have two opportunities to win one game to earn a playoff spot. The teams with the ninth-highest and tenth-highest winning percentages in each conference will each have to win two consecutive games to earn a playoff spot.

Basically still have to win two games, no? Unless I'm misunderstanding it somewhere

EDIT: I think I get what you mean. 9 vs 10 basically needs to win two in a row to get the 8th seed. 7 vs 8, they get two chances to try to clinch playoff berth. It's not by a best-of-3 series, actually. My bad haha.
