With the number of players missing time due to injury and/ or illness, thought an update thread would be appropriate... :P

04/27, Per John Karalis: Brad Stevens says he’s hopeful Robert Williams will play tomorrow. Kemba Walker will miss at least the next two games with his side strain. He’s hopeful Tatum will play tomorrow as well.

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

"Jaylen and Jayson, I don't have any update on them, other than they were both in their rooms being looked at," Stevens said.

Tatum spoke with reporters after Stevens and seemed optimistic his own injury wasn't serious.

We just collided and he stepped on my foot and he fell on my leg," Tatum said. "But I should be all right. See how I feel tomorrow, but should be OK.

"I was able to walk off the court by myself, so that should be a sign."

Brown didn't speak with the media Sunday night, which could suggest his injury is more serious than Tatum's.

Hoping it's nothing serious and they both rest up. Glad they're off until Wednesday but still.

Feel like Jaylen might have high ankle sprain... Really glad Tatum is OK.

Maybe JB's OK?

Jay King @ByJayKing yesterday

Evan Fournier said Brown and Tatum didn't seem particularly concerned with their injuries. Said he's guessing they're going to be good.

But it sounds like Fournier isn't. Not surprised.

Mark Murphy @Murf56

Fournier on his bout with COVID: "It’s a golden opportunity for me to finally be with a great team, and the fact I got COVID is heartbreaking, to be honest. That’s the hard part. You guys don’t know me yet, but I’m as mentally tough as it gets. I’ll get through that for sure.”

You wouldn't know it by his 8-10 shooting tonight, but Evan Fournier said COVID has most affected his depth perception.

Yikes.  Depth perception tends to be a bit important for basketball.

Yes, until tonight-he's been really off with his shots.

Per ESPN:

Quote
"I've been feeling really weird, to be honest," Fournier said. "My plan was to stop talking about it so it might help me, but the thing is it's like I have a concussion. Right now it's actually doing a little bit better, but at first the bright lights were bothering my eyes and my vision was blurry.

"Everything was just going too fast for me. It's still the case. Some stuff is better, but at times I'm really struggling to focus and my eyes keep struggling focusing on one thing. My depth perception is really bad right now. But I saw a specialist and she gave me some exercises and hopefully it'll get better."

Fournier, whom the Celtics acquired at the trade deadline using the trade exception generated when Gordon Hayward signed with the Charlotte Hornets in the offseason, said that while he wasn't 100 percent, the fact he was physically healthy meant he felt he needed to be on the court with his new teammates.

"I mean, that's the thing," Fournier said. "With this COVID thing, the truth is doctors and everyone, they really have no idea. It's so new. But the stuff that I'm feeling, apparently one-third of the people after COVID got those symptoms as well. So it's not an isolated case. But like I said, with time it's going to get better. Some people lost their taste of the food, and the smell. For me it's just my awareness and all that. It's a part of the senses. But it's going to get better. It's already slightly better. But I'm going to keep working. I can't just take games off or practices off because I'm not feeling well mentally. If my body's available I have to be available."

I'd be shocked if this doesn't take a month or more. Tatum wasn't Tatum when he came back either.

Ever shoot in a large Arena with little background behind baskets ?  It throws your depth perception way off until you can get adjusted.

It probably will take a while. Unfortunately we don't have the most patient fanbase.

Hopefully no news is good news....  :-\

But no news is usually bad news with this team. Hopefully it's nothing too big. I'd suggest Brown should sit out Wednesday's game. Kemba needs to play, though.

I'm almost certain he will be sitting out games. I think the optimism is that he would be back before the playoffs. Maybe he just misses the rest of this week. I'm speculating but he didn't look too good limping off, it would be insane to risk further injury.

Stevens needs to stop playing the J's too many minutes. Save it for their prime when the Celts are serious contenders for titles.

Playing them into the ground for a 6th seed makes no sense.
