Celtics: Jackson Jr, Winslow, Bane, Tillman, Valanciunas

Grizzlies: Brown, Smart, Williams III, G Williams

This idea is for squad depth and height. Jackson Jr injury isn't too serious and his previous growth shows the signs of a future all-star. Tillman and Bane will be great role players now and in the future and Valanciunas can be a future salary dump or a cheap physical centre and Winslow can be a bigger version of Smart without jacking up so many threes.

For the Grizzlies, Brown is locked in for the future, is a legit all-star and given how close Memphis is from his home town, I'm sure Brown would happily stay long term. Smart can counter Morant's defensive deficiencies and Timelord is a sold Jackson Jr substitute.

Boston Celtics

C Valanciunas
PF Jackson Jr, Tillman
SF Tatum, Winslow, Nesmith
SG Bane, Langford
PG Walker, Prichard

Memphis Grizzlies

C Willams III, Tillie
PF Clarke, G.Williams, Porter
SF Brown, Anderson, Brooks
SG Smart, Allen, Konchar
PG Morant, Jones, Melton

I could see something centered around Smart and JJJ, but I agree with Moranis. In no universe should we be giving up Jaylen in this type of deal. Even if you take out Jaylen and Valanciunas, I'm still not crazy about it.

JJJ has not done anything remotely close to being worth JB

I understand the trepidation, Brown is amazing but JJJ’s ceiling is huge. Not based on measurements or college but on NBA play, it’s just he’s been forgotten due to his long absence. He’s a future defensive player of the year who can shoot threes at a Dirk like precision.

Brown’s work ethic has to be one of the highest in the league and I’m sure he will squeeze ever bit of talent he has but JJJ ceiling is just higher. The trade will never happen obviously, Memphis won’t move JJJ either but we as a team are stuck and missing a key big man, defence, depth and unfortunately we are capped out for 3 years till Kemba is off the books. I love Brown but he unfortunately is the only trade option to return to contention.

JJJ has played in only 115 of his teams 204 games since being drafted. Guy needs to prove he can actually play before being a centerpiece for an all star.

Hard pass.

I'd rather do something built around Tatum for JJJ + Bane and/or Brooks. Swapping out 4-5 players in a two team deal is not realistic. I also don't want Valanciunas.

That deal would be legendary... for the city of Memphis. JJJ is worse than Timelord in literally every stat except for 3pt shooting.

He can't defend without fouling,  averaging 5.2 fouls per-36. Timelord gets twice the blocks with one fewer foul, and he has been sharply improving, Tuesday night notwithstanding. JJJ also doesn't rebound well, which bothers me.

So we are probably giving up the best TWO players in this deal. If we wanted a JJJ type player we could have traded for John Collins instead.

Grizz get the best player in the deal.

I want to take this opportunity to emphatically agree with Moranis
