Does one's shooting percentage increase after taking a dribble? Or should one just catch-and-shoot?

Well, I suck BADLY at basketball, but I can make almost every mid-range shot I take when I dribble, step, and shoot.

I wonder why that happens. Does it orient the shooter?  :-\

No, it gets worse. Very few players shoot better off the dribble than off the catch. Vast vast majority of NBA players shoot better without a dribble. Almost everyone.

Every player is different, but usually guys are better spot up than on the move shooters.

  • I'm a Paul Heyman guy.
I never played high quality competition so take this with a grain of salt.

To me it does. When in play, I'm the guy who sets picks and pops out at atound the three point area. I like to do a pump fake, one dribblethen launch move and to me it gets me to a better rhythm. I tend to set my feet better after the dribble too. And I think it works with others as well.

I would saybyes, but thats just me. I am better shooting after the dribble though (most of them are 18-20 foot jumpers).

Interesting. I suppose as an amateur, one shoots better after a dribble and as a pro, it's the other way around.

I like to dribble once. :P
