Here's the deal:
We will know by draft night, June 20, whether or not Kyrie has agreed to sign with Boston or explore FA.
If Kyrie does not commit to re-sign with Boston by then, we can't structure an AD trade with the draft picks, since such a trade would require selecting picks for the Pels.
Danny, as a good GM, will require Kyrie to make his decision before draft night, which is a full 11 days before the start of free agency on July 1. So despite Kyrie saying "wait until July 1", the Celtics will require him to make his decision by June 20.
If Kyrie says he hasn't made up his mind by June 20, or "wait until July 1", or he wants to talk to other teams first, then Danny will have no choice but to assume that means "no", and do with the picks what he deems is best for the team, whether that means trading them for someone other than AD, or selecting players, or some combination of both. He won't be selecting them for NO, that's for sure, because without a firm commitment from Kyrie at that point, there is no point in trading for Davis. None.
Media seems to be ignoring this.
