Everyone "should" improve.

Because this system allows terrible contracts and players to be avoided. (no one is drafting Eddie Curry)

Yeah, doing a mock draft like this will naturally result in a lot more parity.

For example, I made an association on NBA 2k10 in which I allowed the computer to do a full mock draft.  Afterwards, however, I made a bunch of trades so that each team retained 3 of their core players.  What I've ended up with is a league full of teams rated in the high 70's and low 80's (for 2k10 that's a solid overall team rating).

So my point is if you had a league where every team got to keep 2-3 of their core players and then there was a mock draft for all the other players, most teams would be a lot better.  Only the teams with really phenomenal core players (e.g. Lakers) would stand out from the rest, and even then not a great deal.

I've been looking at contract while drafting....right now I've got Casspi and Lopez on rookie contracts...Selelosha at 3.3 thru the next decade, Devin Harris at around 8.5....and Nene at 10.

Scrappy potential low playoff team or wosre, you decide?

cats:

PG: conley
SG: jackson
SF: wallace
PF: murphy
C: haywood
I prefer the actual Bobcats. I think there's a large defensive downgrade on that team without much offensive improvement. Mainly at the four with the loss of Diaw and also at the point with the loss of Felton.

Chandler and Haywood is a tough one to call given Chandler's injuries + so-so play this season.

you really think murphy is that much of a defensive downgrade?

I think we are better, we maintain the same lock down scoring wing combo, add a big man who can both rebound and pick and pop  to extend our floor spacing to the three point line.

Also, i think haywood is WAY better than chandler. what has chandler done minus chris paul? nothing. Hes an injury prone big who doesn't defend well except for weak side blocks. he has a limited offensive game without paul throwing him alley opps every fast break.

Haywood out rebounds him, out defends him, and out garbage mans him.

I see your argument with Diaw > murphy, but i dont agree. I think Murphy extends the floor better, rebounds better, and opens up the lane for jackson and wallace to slash.

Also, I'd submit that with wallace, jackson, haywood and murphys rebound/ 48 averages, My team will be a terror for other teams who are smaller than our starting front court + jackson (of which there are alot in the league)

Thanks for the eval though, anyone else got any thoughts on the cats?

I'm a big fan of Diaw defensively. I think he's played a major role in Charlotte's defensive improvement since joining the club last season. I also thought he was the Suns best defender. Excellent defensive versatility, capable of defending all five positions. Very good team defense and good-to-very good man-to-man defense.

I consider Troy Murphy one of the worst defenders in the league. He is very poor at everything. All types of man-to-man coverages and in team defense (transition, pick and roll, rotations, close outs, switches, altering shots, drawing charges). A massive liability, especially at the four.

To be fair, my friend, it wasn't hard for you to "improve" that "team."
