I like Zach actually.  Younger, Taller, actually played great defense for team USA. More athletic. Better switchability potential.

Beals obviously boys with Tatum, I'll still take Z.L.

Is Lavine going to be a lot cheaper? I'm not sure what his max will be. But that would be a big consideration for me (along with age). I like Beal, but he's expensive.

Feel Beal may try to dominate the game a little too much to fit with an improving Tatum and Brown. So Lavine has an edge. I'd like KAT more than both.

Probably Beal, simply because of reasons of durability. Beal is a better scorer due to his better ability to draw fouls, and yet is still significantly more durable.

I doubt Lavine will be much cheaper if he plays like he did last season.
'23 Historical Draft: Orlando Magic.

PG: Terry Porter (90-91) / Steve Francis (00-01)
SG: Joe Dumars (92-93) / Jeff Hornacek (91-92) / Jerry Stackhouse (00-01)
SF: Brandon Roy (08-09) / Walter Davis (78-79)
PF: Terry Cummings (84-85) / Paul Millsap (15-16)
C: Chris Webber (00-01) / Ralph Sampson (83-84) / Andrew Bogut (09-10)

Beal is the better overall player, but Lavine a little better fit.

Even then, IMO, neither of them is a great fit.

Whoever can play point guard better.  I don't really want another guy who is redundant with Brown/Tatum.  Talent is talent but I'd much prefer a PG or C.  Someone who brings something different to the table.

I'm on the Zach side, more so after this:

https://chowderandchampions.com/2021/09/14/boston-celtics-rumors-zach-lavine-better-option-vs-bradley-beal/

"Zach LaVine is better for the Boston Celtics than Bradley Beal
If you are a Celtics fan, you have watched LaVine torch the team the last few seasons.

He’s athletic, he can score from anywhere on the court and as Washburn pointed out, he plays great defense.

Furthermore, he would be familiar with both Jayson Tatum and new Boston Celtics head coach Ime Udoka from this past summer’s experience at the Tokyo Olympics.  If he does explore the open market, the Celtics star and coach will have an opportunity to recruit, if they haven’t already done that during their time together at the Olympics.

As rumors have suggested, Tatum more than likely would have his attention set on his good buddy Beal, but for the interest of the team, LeVine would be a better fit because of Jaylen Brown.

Although Beal is a better scorer, him and Brown would pretty much be the same player and how would the Beal and Tatum friendship impact Brown as a part of that Big 3?  There could be some potential drama there off the court.  There is drama potential with any max player the Celtics bring in (if they can attract any), but LaVine at the point guard position gives the team an overall upgrade at the position over both Kyrie Irving and Kemba Walker in that LaVine wouldn’t be a liability defensively."

Do we think Beal or LaVine won't get resigned from their current teams? Wizards don't want to tank and rebuild. Bulls invested in the current team. On top of that C's lost all their leverage by giving extensions out. I don't see either players coming here.

I see no reason why the Bulls would trade LaVine this season given all of the money they spent in the off season.  I suppose if they are really bad at the trade deadline, then maybe he becomes available, but that would be a pretty big risk for Boston i.e. acquiring a guy at the deadline that is expiring and will cost a ton to acquire.

That said if the trade is something like Richardson, Nesmith, G. Williams, 22 1st, 24 1st (lotto) for LaVine I think you have to do it.

So Boston post-trade in that scenario (2 open spots for buy out market)

PG - Schroder, Pritchard
SG - LaVine, Smart, Langford
SF - Brown
PF - Tatum, Parker, Hernangomez, Fernando
C - Horford, R. Williams, Kanter

Not sure that team is quite on the Milwaukee/Brooklyn level, but it is certainly a lot closer and given that LaVine is 26, Brown is 24, and Tatum is 23 you'd expect at least a 5 year window of top 4 seed play with a real shot at a championship a couple of seasons down the line when all 3 are firmly in their prime (and teams like Brooklyn start to age out of contention).
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

who wouldn't, but KAT is going to require Brown I think and that makes it far less attractive unless we acquire someone like LaVine or Beal without using Brown and then move Brown for KAT.

So multi-trades -

First - Richardson, Nesmith, G. Williams, 22 + 24 1st's for LaVine
Second - Brown, R. Williams, 23 + 25 + 27 Swap, 26 1st for Towns
Third - Prince, Layman into Fournier TPE for future 2nd

Post-Trades with 1 open spot

PG - Schroder, Pritchard
SG - LaVine, Smart, Langford
SF - Tatum, Prince, Layman
PF - Towns, Parker, Hernangomez, Fernando
C - Horford, Kanter

Rotation would be something like this

PG - Schroder 30, Pritchard 18
SG - LaVine 36, Smart 12
SF - Tatum 18, Smart 18, Prince 12
PF - Towns 22, Tatum 18, Parker 8
C - Horford 24, Towns 14, Kanter 10

Now that would be a team that could really have a shot at a title
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip
