Philly now have

G: Maxey, Beverley
G: Hield, Melton, K Martin Jr
F: Oubre, Batum
F: T Harris, Covington
C: P Reed, Mo Bamba

That center rotation is real weak without Embiid. The rest of the team is nice though. If Embiid can comeback, they will be scary.

Yeah, this is a really good addition for the Sixers if Embiid returns. Adding more shooting and scoring to spread the floor around Embiid is key for them.

A Maxey/Heild back court trying to stop Jrue/White/Brown/Tatum is not going to go well for the Sixers. Going to try to outscore the C's I guess.

I wonder if Hield will start while Embiid is injured and then move to the bench in a 6th man bench scorer role once Embiid returns. With Melton starting at SG instead.

Maybe. But also to push back against my own comment.... the Sixers have more to be concerned about then just how he matches up against Boston. He will give them some offensive help which they desperately need while Embiid is out, and his gravity pairs well with embiid when he returns. Not a lot of teams with big wings who will punish Heild.

Doug McDermott (SAS) to the Pacers for Morris; Morris to be waived.

Great pickup for Indiana. A bigger body than Hield. Hield's lack of size was causing them problems on defense. They already had Nembhard and Mathurin at SG and Hield had to play SF. McDermott will fit in better with that. Also be more comfortable in a lesser offensive role. Allow more room for Siakam and Mathurin to do their thing.

I wonder who Marcus Morris will sign with.

I am not sure he is a rotation player anymore.

Still ... possibly a useful 3rd stringer.

Cheap-ass franchise gonna cheap-ass franchise, I guess.

I think so. People say the Celtics pinch pennies, which is true, but at least we don't actively make ourselves worse.
Man had always assumed that he was more intelligent than dolphins because he had achieved so much—the wheel, New York, wars and so on—whilst all the dolphins had ever done was muck about in the water having a good time.

But conversely, the dolphins had always believed that they were far more intelligent than man—for precisely the same reasons.

That helps Maxey a lot.  Spreads the floor more for him.  With Embiid this is a scary team IMO.  Toughness all up and down the roster.  I don't think they have enough shooting in the 2nd unit though.  I wonder if Hield comes off the bench with Melton starting.  Could balance the 2nd unit out.

That's a steal for Philly.  I'm surprised no other contender could beat that.

exactly, and why does Indy want to send a productive player to a conf rival to make them better
especially for what they got back.

The salaries are a problem for a lot of good teams.

I guess every team is navigating the complexities of the cap, so sometimes oddball stuff (or odd to us) just happens

I rate Morris as better than Thad Young, better than Otto Porter.

Morris has started 20 playoff games (for LAC) over the prior 2 seasons.  He is 34.

We could do a whole lot worse than Marcus Morris as a buyout.

Correction:  He makes too much for us to be able to sign him I believe.

I think the weakness of the upcoming draft also affects things...
