Players to Watch

Jeff Green had a big game and showed the aggressiveness that the Celtics need from him in the first game.  The big test will be whether he can do it two games in a row.

Honorable Mention
Jared Sullinger
After serving a suspension in the first game, this will be Jared's first regular season game.  The Celtics need his presence under the basket and his rebounding.

Probable Starters

Bucks Reserves

Nate Wolters
Ersan Ilyasova
Gary Neal
Zaza Pachulia
Giannis Antetokounmpo
John Henson
Miroslav Raduljica
Luke Ridnour

Injuries
Carlos Delfino  (foot) out
Ekpe Udoh (knee) out

Players to Watch

After being courted by the Celtics for the past couple of seasons, OJ Mayo is now with the Bucks.  He is capable of scoring in bunches if not defended well.

Honorable Mention

Larry Sanders
Last season, Larry Sanders had a couple of big games against the Celtics.  He had 18 points and 16 rebounds in one game and 20 rebounds in another.  Hopefully the Celtics bigs can contain him in this one.

Game Notes

The Celtics come into their home opener looking for their first win of the season.  The Bucks are also looking for their first win, having lost to the Knicks on the road on Wednesday.

The Celtics starting lineup is still up in the air. I have a feeling that it's going to be awhile before we actually know who will be starting each game.  The starting lineup above is once again from the Game Notes.  I think they just go with the starters from the previous game.  I'm going to take a guess and say that in this game Stevens will start
Jordan Crawford
Avery Bradley
Jeff Green
Jared Sullinger
Kelly Olynyk
Crawford was playing the point on the green team in practice.  And after Wednesday's game, Stevens said something about had Sully been available he might have started Kelly next to him.  So, I'm taking a wild guess on my pick.  Maybe we should have a predict the starting lineup contest for every game.

Like the Celtics, the Bucks have several new players and are trying to build past being a middle of the pack team.  This is a very winnable game if the Celtics come in and play with energy for 48 minutes.

Keys to the Game
Attack the Paint - In their first game, the Bucks were outscored in the paint 50-28 by the Knicks.  The Celtics need to attack the hoop and not settle for jumpers.

Rebound- The Celtics must attack the boards on both ends of the court.  They have to grab offensive rebounds to give themselves more second chance points and they must grab defensive rebounds to keep the Bucks from getting those second chances.

Make Layups - In every game so far, the Celtics have missed way too many bunnies.  What should be easy points end up being turnovers or missed opportunities.  They have to find a way to make those layups.

Defense - Defense is always a key to winning.

X-Factor
Home Court Advantage
This is the Celtics home opener.  The fans will still be hyped from the Red Sox victory on Wednesday and should give the team a nice lift with their energy.

Bold Predictions

Jeff Green does his vanishing act. 8 points, 3 boards, 3 assists. 2-5 from deep

Jordan Crawford leads the team in points, assists, and technicals.

Jared Sullinger gets his hands on the ball like it's his ex-girlfriend and finishes with 11 boards in 25 minutes.

Brandon Knight lights up the C's for 21 points, along with 5 assists and 4 boards.

FINAL SCORE
98-90. Celtics Win.

BOLD prediction

Crawfish will be dropping dimes 10+ assists
El Hombre Indestructible for a double-double
Lee where art thou??
The passive Green again
If I got a dollar for everytime Bass struggles to create his own shot, I could be buying my own Nets team
Come to the KO's clinic, this kid will have a great game
Sully will be grabbing rebounds like it's intentional that Crawford/Lee and Bradley are shooting bricks

1st Game of the Season 10+ point lead at the end

The bucks match-up very poorly this this celtics team.I will be interested to see if Stevens leaves the same starting lineup. This will cause some odd cross match-ups with either Knight or Mayo having to guard Wallace or Green. If thats the case then use kelly or sully early at center to pull sanders out of the paint.

El Hombre held his own against Brother Jonas in the last game.  I'm excited to see how he looks against the Human Pogo Stick in tonight's contest.

I don't think Faverani can keep Larry Sanders off the glass. Sanders is too quick and agile for him. I am looking forward to seeing Faverani post him up on the other end though. Sanders is a dodgy post defender and Faverani has a good 20lbs on him. Be a good test for how good Faverani's post skills are.

It's not just the 20 pounds, but Vitor's got some nice skills down there as well.   Plus, he looks like a really good roller off the pick.  It's too bad there's nobody on the team to make nice passes in the pick and roll game right now.

More Pressey, or--gasp--even Crawfish?

I haven't been paying attention to the Buck's preseason--how has their Greek wunderkind been playing?

No Ridnour or Brandon Knight for this game, Bucks announced.

I haven't been paying attention to the Buck's preseason--how has their Greek wunderkind been playing?

Some very flashy plays.  He can really jump and dunk, he moves like Durant (without the ball that is) and he can really block shots.  Around the rim of course but I've seen him block a good amount of jumpers too.  I'm curious how much of that is not knowing how long this kid is but obviously he has the hands and length to make that a habit.
