according to the Boston Globe.

I'm no baseball expert, but how the heck does Francona win this over the guy who brought his team from worst to first with an unheralded group of players?

You've GOT to be kidding me. I like Francona, and he did good work there in Cleveland, but how does "worst to first" NOT win you Manager of the Year, especially after how toxic the Red Sox clubhouse had become over the last couple years?

I'm more about team titles than individual awards, but this is absurd.

I'm right there with you. Francona did a great job in Cleveland, but when you look at what Farrell did with this team this year, especially going from worst to first and a 28 win improvement, it should be clear that he was the best manager in the AL.

Interestingly, Francona never received a first place VOTE during his stint with the Sox. I never pay attention to this award, but is this like the Grammy's where a HoF band gets the award for their worst, late in the game album to celebrate their body of work?

Tito did a great job with the Indians, but Farrell was robbed here

Not a baseball fan but this is ridiculous.  I'd love to hear a justification.

Though, awards are all nonsense.  I try not to get caught up in it because you can easily be frustrated.  Kevin Garnett only won the DPOY one time.

Isn't the voting done before the playoffs?

That certainly would've played a role in this.

Some, but try again... Red Sox's still had the best record in the league, so facts still remains that Farrell took a team that was one of the worst last year, projected to be worst this year and took them the best winning record in the league with the best run scored differential in the league.

Cleveland was in a similar boat, but Boston's achievements were much better.

And that's not factoring in of course, WORLD SERIES CHAMPS!

Also remember that Boston has a payroll of 150 million and was projected to be bad again due to a ton of players coming off awful injury plagued years. Still far more raw talent than the Indians.

Personally, I always look to the Oscars for that practice.
