The New York Knicks and Los Angeles Clippers have interest in trading for Derrick Rose. Tom Thibodaeu coached Rose with the Chicago Bulls and Minnesota Timberwolves, while Ty Lue had a brief stint coaching him with the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Rose was linked with a trade to the Los Angeles Lakers and Philadelphia 76ers last season.

Rose is on an expiring contract with the Detroit Pistons.

Bidding war?  Where did that come from?

Here’s the entirety of the Athletic’s reporting:

New York and the Clippers are among interested teams in Pistons guard Derrick Rose, sources said. Knicks coach Tom Thibodeau has a long history with Rose, coaching the former league MVP in Chicago and Minnesota.

Yeah nothing about this situation seems to call for offers being made or a team having leverage. Tom likes Rose. Lue like Rose. Those teams are interested (naturally) if Rose becomes available.

I’d love to see Rose in NYK to reunite with Tom and give them some leadership at the PG slot.

Rose would be great backing up Walker here.
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

Rose would be a decent veteran add to the right team.  Not sure he is what the Knicks should be going after but makes a lot of sense for teams like the Clippers, Lakers, maybe even the Nets or Sixers.  Rose probably does not have the durability to be a starter so makes more sense to add to the mix on a more established team to add depth.

I don't think the Celtics need to mess with their PG rotation right now so I doubt that the Celtics are involved in Rose talks.

I can see Blake making it’s way to Oklahoma . They have to fill up the cap for next year. It doesn’t make sense for them to be players in free agency. Maybe they will get some picks from a third team in a trade for Blake.
