Houston gets: Hayward and Poirier and #26
Houston moves Westbrook who wants out, adds a better fit to Harden in Hayward, add a big frontcourt body and a late pick.

Knicks get: Westbrook, #30 and Carsen Edwards
Knicks get a star player

Boston gets: Danuel House (Houston), Frank Ntilikina (knicks) pick #8
Boston adds a couple of bench pieces on the cheap and get the #8 pick (okongwu)
Also gain a TPE worth 28 million.

Kemba/Frank
Smart/Romeo
Brown/House
Tatum/GrantW
Theis/Okongwu/Timelord

Okongwu, House, Frank and a 28 million dollar TPE is a bad deal?

I dont think team can do much better than that.

I agree.  Hayward is probably gone in any case.  This is a decent return and an interesting overall deal.

I dont hate the idea of the 8th pick, a good bench player and a 28 million dollar trade exception for 1 year of Hayward. I don't think you do it if you think he'd be willing to resign at reasonable money, but its gonna be hard to keep him long term so from that perspective you could do worse.

If Danuel House isn't completely bat poop crazy I'd consider this. He's a solid two-way player and the #8 pick could definitely be attached to that juicy trade exception for something good.

I actually really rate House - he's an underrated 3 and D wing with some on-ball skills.

I rate Frank as well.

Both guys are multi positional defenders. One can playmake, one can shoot.

Good bench wing potential with
Frank
Romeo
House

3 level scoring, excellent defense, very good shooting. Bit of everything as opposed to last seasons a bit of nothing.

Hayward would have to opt in for this to work. He won't make his decision to opt in our not until after the draft. So I don't see how this could be pulled off as a practical matter.

It would be nice if Boston didn't have to give up so many picks to make this work.

How would Boston use a TPE of that magnitude?  That works when you have a lot of draft capital, but they do not. Plus given our salary cap situation, I doubt they would be willing to absorb an additional large contract like that unless for a star.

1. If the Knicks are so inclined, then I would offer them Kemba. Westbrook is more of just about everything, of course, but quite a bit of of it isn't good. Kemba would be a better fit for this type of strategy. That trade has been suggested multiple times and would be simpler.

2. Okongwu won't likely be around at #8. Hayes or Halliburton might.

Yes he would, I would assume he would be willing to:
a) keep his money
b) move to a great city with a great fanbase
c) play on a team that will make the playoffs
d) be a top star player on that team
