I predicted 50+, but doubt it now. We've blown too many winnable games, but we are improving and it is possible.

We're gonna have meltdown games like late December or what happened against Orlando a few days ago. Might even lose to the Lakers again cuz the Celtics like to play down to their level for some reason.

Sticking with 40-45ish.

Winning 50 games would be a very good season.
Winning a playoff round would be a great season.

A top 3 pick would be a good draft
The top pick would be $$$$$$$$$$$$$

There are 31 games left, and we have 29 wins. To get to 50 wins, we need to go 21-10. That is possible, as this is a good squad that is better than its 29-22 record would suggest. But it's more likely that we'll go something like 18-13 for 47 wins.

I'm not sure why some people are still thinking low 40's. 42 wins would mean going 13-18, vs a favorable schedule. To expect that, you have to think that the C's have dramatically over-performed this season, and that they're very lucky to be 29-22. But the reality is that they've posted an excellent point differential, their elo rating of 1579 is solidly 3rd in the East (Bulls are 4th at 1535), and their recent play suggests improvement.

I really do think we're better than our record suggests this season. So many games where I felt like we did enough to win but the other team just started hitting everything/getting ridiculous calls. The point differential bears this hypothesis out.

Yeah, fifty wins is a lot, but I don't think it's unattainable at all.

I'm not a greedy man.  All I want is a 50 win season, an even numbered seed so we avoid the Cavs until the Eastern Conference Finals, at least one playoff series win and Ben Simmons or Brandon Ingram.  I mean we could get the 2 seed or the 4 seed, we could get either one of those two players, we could get 50 wins or even 51 wins, etc.  There's a lot of wiggle room there so I don't think it's too much to ask.

I picked us to win 50 games at the beginning of the season.
But we have to avoid injures to do that.

I will again stick to the ceiling of my prediction (45-48 wins) and say 48 and a 4 seed.  That would still be an excellent result.

I'm fascinated and a bit jealous of what Philly has done, but there's no GM I'd rather have running this team than Ainge.

Hinkie set the team up to lose, acquired tons of assets using cap space, and has set that team up for a pretty rapid turnaround... but there's still a ton of question marks about whether Hinkie is capable of turning assets into a contender.  That's why bringing in Colangelo was a solid move by Philly... Hinkie did a great job at stage 1... they need someone who knows how to take the team to stage 2.   Ainge, on the other hand, obviously has a healthy respect for tanking, but also has already proven he knows how to turn assets into a contender.

538 has us winning 48 games this season, not too shabby.
http://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/2016-nba-picks/
also have quite a great chance to win the championship this season.

I think our chance of making the finals is not out of the question (though obviously very unlikely).

Honestly, if the Warriors play the Spurs in the WCF that series can go either way - and if the Spurs win and go through, who knows.  A lot of older guys on that roster (Parker, Manu, Duncan) so they might wear down soem by the time they get that deep in the playoffs.

I think the Warriors are the only team we CAN'T beat.  It would be very tough for us to beat the Cavs or Spurs, but I don't think it's impossible.  Warriors though - that could be ugly.

At the very least, I think we have a really good shot at making the ECF.

If this team can manage to win right around 50 games, while pulling a top 3 draft pick, and make the ECF to boot, I'd be happy as a pig in poop. 5th Youngest team in the league, and a bunch of guys 22 and younger down on the farm we could hardly even play. 2 more Brooklyn picks to go after our top 5 one this year, all likely lottery bound. Thomas, Crowder, Bradley, Smart, Olynyk all climbing in trade value. Extra 1st rounders for days, max cap space....top 5-10 coach

It's amazing how well this team is set up going forward. Ainge is perfect for this job.
