So far, the only thing to complain about regarding the Brooklyn trade is taking back Gerald Wallace's bad contract. Unfortunately, that's not the only bad contract we're taking back.

In summary, the Celtics are forced to pay Bogans AT LEAST $4.4M per year to make the Brooklyn trade work. Not just that, but his contract MUST be AT LEAST 3 years long. That means as it stands, in the next 3 years the C's will be paying Bogans and Wallace a combined $14.4M each year.

Oh joy.

And that makes it a $4 million expiring contract, and you can move those.

Right. Which actually makes it another asset as an expiring contract to use at the deadline.

Bogans contract is estimated at 1.2 million the first year, & is non guaranteed for the remaining 2 years.

No big deal here.  Just a piece of the pie to make the numbers work.

not only this, but the contracts maybe valuable in future trades.

I'm certainly no expert with the CBA, so is that possible? If so, I'm a lot more relieved. Kudos for pointing that out.

Sign-and-trade contracts must be three years but only the first year must be guaranteed.  Sasha Pavlovic had that sort of deal when he was signed-and-traded as part of the Courtney Lee trade.

Thank god. That makes paying him $4.4M a lot more bearable.

If it weren't the case, the Celtics would just hang on to Jason Terry.

Exactly. People need to stop worrying about cap space. We're rebuilding, cap space doesn't matter.
