Okay....no spoilers.
Let me say it again...
But Twin Peaks is awesome. It is like reading a trashy romance/hardboiled detective novel, but in movies.
They're smart enough to parody themselves with the ongoing "invitation to love" soap opera thing, but they're also well read enough to use traditional literary technique in outlining their plot.
Example: there is a guy warning a lady about a prearranged "agreement". You know when the conversation starts that the incident has ill-intentions on the part of the guy, and the girl just wants to get away.
But, as the conversation progresses, the scene stops movement (while the dialog continues) and the guy's head is clearly framed between two horns, his head over the top of the deers head that would normally be there in the shot, giving him "horns" for the scene, implying some kind of devilish or evil influence. Such blatant hit you over to the head imagery, that in books comes off as forced, but in film comes off as "subtle".
I am just finishing season 1 and I am so incredibly impressed.
Tommy points to whoever can tell me the scene I'm referring to.
