We win the division suddenly we are the 3rd seed. Looks much better.  Then we can go out and get a player to play with Marcus.

This is not true anymore, by the way.
At least a goldfish with a Lincoln Log on its back goin' across your floor to your sock drawer has a miraculous connotation to it.

It still helps to win the division.  Any time you can steal a player away in your own division it helps.

Winning the division is better than not winning it, I guess, but playoff seeding is now a straight 1-8 as of a few days ago.

Here's hoping.  Otherwise, dust off your lotto balls and let's party.

I'd be happy with him just having a better year.  huge would be swell but I'm trying to be realistic.

Well star players usually break out in their 2nd year.  AB, Sully, KO these guys took a bit.  Smart legitamently should have a much better year in his 2nd  year.  He was the 6th pick and usually players drafted that high see a huge increase.

What I'd like to see from Smart is see him establish himself as a leader on this team and lead us to a division title.

I wouldn't say he's definitely going to have a big year, but I will say this will definitely be a big year for him.  If he's going to be a star, he needs to show substantial improvement now that he's got a season under his belt.

He was a rookie last season.   He is going to break out this year.  He probably isn't going to quiet those who want to trade him but I hope the C's don't. He is going to be huge this season.

I like your optimism, and agree, his success may not take the form of just points scored, but along the lines of all around play.

That first link is a story from 2008. This change was enacted last Wednesday, about.com may not have caught up yet  ;)

Trust me when I tell you that right now you are wrong.

Why is Smart getting but not realistic? No one is saying he's going to put up 20ppg and 10spg.

First year player and hurt half the season, improved his jump shot over the first half of the year.

Gets a summer to work and not have to worry about learning a new system. No reason the kid can't get 12 and 5.
