Are you going by regular season record, or record based on how teams finished in the consolation rounds?  I mention that because my team finished with by far the worst regular season record, but apparently squeaked out a 9th place finish in the playoffs.

If this is the decision for this season, I'm fine with it.  However, I'd suggest that draft position not be based upon playoff position in the future, especially for the teams playing in the consolation bracket.  From my experience in fantasy basketball, teams rarely set their rosters for those rounds.  If we're tying draft position to our finish in those rounds, it makes even less sense to participate; I know if I miss the playoffs, I will be sitting all of my players to guarantee the #1 pick.

I did set it based on the final results (which included playoffs).  This was the way it was listed when I went back into Yahoo and looked.

I didnt even think about this until now, and I think you raise good points, but I think there are good points on the other side as well.  I finished first in the regular season but got whooped in the playoffs.  clearly my team wasn't the best.

I am not sure I can change the draft order (without re-doing all of the keepers, which I would prefer not to...although if enough people want it, I will do it).  I guess people can weigh in their opinion and I can make any necessary changes.

Roy brings up some good points about the tanking issue.

I looked on google for some people's opinions as to how they deal with tanking in head to head situations for keeper leagues.

A few potential solutions:

the teams in the consolation round compete for first pick.  If you 'win' the consolation round, you get the first pick, and the draft order would go from there...

A second option would be just to ban tanking. this is from a 'constitution' I found haha.
Quote
If a fantasy player is determined to be intentionally trying to lose a game or games,
“tanking” will be declared. If it appears that tanking is happening, the situation will
be reviewed by the commissioner and presented to the league for a vote. Six votes from
league members are needed to “declare tanking.” If a tanking is declared on a player,
that player will automatically be moved to the #12 pick of the next draft (no matter if
it is the mid-season or start of season draft). That player may also be subject to expulsion
from the league if the disorderly conduct is severe enough.

also...do we want to increase the number of DL spots from 1 to 2?

I think this came up last year, but I can't remember.

Yes, I do remember this being brought up at some point.  I'd definitely like to see the DL spots increased for management purposes.  I think two is reasonable.

And regarding the draft order, it doesn't matter a whole lot to me.  I'll sign off on whatever you guys prefer.

I have switched the DL spots to 2 from the 1.

We still need to figure out a tanking policy.

I'm in support of either tanking options.  Personally, I think the one where it would need to be declared by a league vote would be the most effective (and democratic  ;)).  Winning the consolation bracket sounds good, but I'm not sure how well it would work.

Anyone else have thoughts on this?

I also prefer the league voting one.

I think people are missing the thread...so we will try and generate some discussion on the yahoo page after the draft.

just to be sure, do we draft our keepers with our first 7 picks or are they automatically on our teams?

From what I've gathered, I believe they are already on our teams and we will be drafting from the pool of players who weren't kept.  But I'm sure yall hate can give you the definitive answer.
