Feels wrong no matter how much sense it makes on paper.

This.

Woj confirms it's serious. Yikes.

This is genuinely sickening to me.

Maybe it makes sense on paper, but it's a player I really like a lot for a player I really don't enjoy.

Genuine source of anxiety.  And I'm still at work.  Ugh.

Feel the same way. Kyrie's more talented and younger with a better deal and will probably age a lot better than IT, but lacks that grit that IT brings.

For me, Kyrie is basically Deluxe Jamal Crawford.

Talent to take over games.  Obviously an All-Star type on the offensive end, on an individual basis.

I'm just not sure his actual impact overall is in line with the impression he leaves as a result of his isolation / rim finishing / big shot prowess.

I've always thought Kyrie was one of the most overrated players in the league.  He's obviously super duper talented, but I don't think he makes his teammates better, and my lasting image of him is just Kyrie doing all kinds of fancy dribbles side to side but never really going anywhere, and then taking a contested shot.

As a vocal Isaiah supporter/Kyrie detractor, this terrifies me. However, I think Matt Moore perfectly summarizes my stance:

Kyrie’s an upgrade on IT. It’s not about quality of play, it’s about age, years, and size. I’d rather have IT for a year, Kyrie for five.

"Wrong" is exactly right.

If the Celts trade IT along with Jaylen or Tatum to get Kyrie, I'm going to be ... very upset, let's just say.

I'll still be a Celts fan.  I like Brad and Horford and Hayward.  But man....

First of all, my head kind of agrees, but my heart wants a say.

The difference between the two players isn't enough for me to justify going from a player I love, who has been the heart of this team since he arrived, to a player I detest.

Second, it's totally not worth it if the price is Jaylen and / or Tatum.

Sources: Boston, Cleveland nearing deal on Kyrie Irving, but details still working to completion. Isaiah Thomas, Crowder, pick(s) in talks.

Exactly.

Sometimes that side to side washing machine Kyrie iso thing works like gangbusters and he seems unstoppable.

But when it doesn't work he still does it just as much and has no Plan B.

Me too. To me, IT is a true Celtic—he has the Celtics spirit—and Kyrie seems like he'd never be like that. Not to mention that we'd also be giving up a good young player as well? No, thanks.

Guys, I think this is going down. I think the Celtics may be concerned with IT's hip. He will be a FA so the Cavs don't have to pay him.

To make the money work, I think it would be IT, Crowder and Lakers pick.

Celtics already have replacements for Crowder.

DO NOT TRADE TATUM!!

  • GOT IT!!!
The chemistry on this team immediately changes if IT is traded. While a upgrade over IT the C's would have too much of a change over to overcome IMO.

Basically how I feel as well...I can understand why DA would do it.

Parting with IT though just hurts. He's put his soul into the team. This is why I could never be a GM and DA is so good at what he does
