Is Javonte really going to start? I don’t get it. Why not Teague?

Because Brad wants Teague to get used to running the 2nd unit.

tbh I don't like Green starting.  He is not starting material and doesn't open up the floor for Tatum/Brown

Nesmith should start.  Brad is clutching on the stick way too tightly over early regular season games.

Nesmith should start to open up the court for Tatum and Brown. I also think Teague should start over Marcus for the same reason. We definitely  need more shooting in that startling lineup.

We get it you're not a fan of Brad's anymore. You are beating the p--- out of that dead horse already.

ok fine

Tristan Thompson says he'll be a game time decision tonight but he's feeling good.

I don't get the Green start either. They need more ball movement.

IF Green starts.  Brad is more concerned about the integrity of his system vs  putting out the best talent out there/slowly prepare for playoffs

He did the same thing a few months ago, when he played Theis with 6 mins to go and everything went downhill

If he starts Green after the two disappointing preseason games  (not Green fault but he shouldn't have started).

That will be disappointing to see

Green is an end of the bench guy. Teague, Nesmith, Grant Williams, even Robert Williams should be out there over him.

Putting him out there doesn't make a lot of sense. We've all seen what he can do, and apart from garbage time highlight dunks, it's not much.

sorry if I can't be a blindly optimistic fan of the coach like yourself

But he should be on the hot seat

It is absolutely ridiculous for Marcus Smart to start as the sole ball-handler & playmaker. Smart needs some help out there. Either from a second guard or a playmaking wing which we no longer have with Hayward gone so it has to be a 2nd PG.

Smart as the sole ball-handler is a disaster. Little to no penetration in the halfcourt. Everything in front of the defense & thus comfortable for the defense. High proportion of the team's shots are contested shots often off the dribble. It is a train wreck.

CBS needs a smack if he continues on with this madness!!

I agree. I think that’s Brad’s loyalty to his players but Williams was the better matchup in that Miami series because of Grant’s insane shooting at that point.

I assume that Brad sees Tatum as the second ball handler. Brown and Green just are ball handlers. It definitely limits the offense.

These first few games will most likely be about just that, competing. If they play hard and smart they could have a punchers chance in these early games. If they come out sluggish like they did in those preseason games there is no hope against these elite teams.

Dreading the idea that Javonte might start
not ideal, i agree. but given the celtics have THREE injured players the team is thin.

green will bring good defense at least. and as long as he does not force his offense and stays within the game plan he will be okay for 20 or 25 minutes.

thanks flc for the game thread, and tp for you!!!

goooooooooooo celtics!!!!  ;D
I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

I would think Ojeleye would start. Seems to have been the direction Stevens has gone in the past so he can match up with Giannis.
