I've been a celtic fan for a long time. I remember "Satch" when I was a child, and recently got to take a look at some old film of his game.

Talk about length, I think his height was around 6' 6" but his arm length was soooo long. Looks like he had a 7' wing span. He wasn't much of an offensive type, but a great defender and shot blocker. He was head coach at Harvard for a while, he also coached the Celtics for a year or so. Satch was always a fine gentleman and a great Celtic.

Oh yeah, he has 8 rings.

TP...Satch was one of my favorite players and classic glue-guy.

He also had a cool restaurant that I would go to in the Back Bay with phenomenal sweet potato pie.

It was called Satch's.

I had season's tix from '79-90, so the time frame is kinda focused for me.

Restaurant opened in 79 or 80, but only lasted 5 years or so.

I remember watching him play as well -- and had the chance to meet him a couple of times when I was a kid.

This thread shook me a bit as I thought maybe he'd passed away -- but no, still very much alive and looks great.
