Would prefer a backcourt of Harden and Smart, but the duo of Tatum and Harden alone is probably good enough to get us to the Finals (no way we make it if Philly, Miami, Toronto or Milwaukee gets Harden), and possibly good enough to beat LA if TT shuts down AD.

We need to get Harden or someone else in the East will and then it’s game over contending for a championship the next two years. If it takes Brown and Smart (or Brown and Kemba), so be it.

The ultimate dream is seeing the Rockets’ owner be obsessed with screwing Morey by giving us Harden while letting us keep Tatum and Brown.

Absolutely not

Do people forget what happened while Kyrie was here?

No, no, no.

Pairing Brown with Tatum is the better option.  Harden is option 1 in his mind.  He'll do more to regress the growth of Tatum than the help him develop.

This is all, of course, my opinion.

Since when did a great Offense win Championships with a deficient defense? I say Hell No..Harden is not Leonard or Lebron...Please keep poison away from Tatum at all costs and try and keep some defense on this team as well so we have a chance to win in the playoffs.

You keep Brown thru trade rumors of Leonard, AD, etc., and now deal him for Harden. No way.

What would people think if we did the trade, but kept Smart?

Harden for Brown, Theis, Langford, and Edwards works.

Obviously Brown is extremely valuable and we love him, but people certainly seem to have an irrational infatuation with Smart. Perhaps it lessens the emotional impact by losing only one beloved player.

Nice idea. I'm not sure if Harden and Kemba would co-exist so I'd try and keep Smart, Brown, and Tatum if we add Harden. Obviously Kemba would need to get moved in that scenario in a three-way deal. Maybe New York, Charlotte, and Orlando would have an interest in him.

I'm not opposed to packaging Brown & Smart for an elite player -- just don't think Harden is the one

That's a very helpful way to say this. Thank-you.

Any superstar who wants out is going to have baggage. You have to ask whether that baggage is worth it or not. I don't think Harden's baggage is worth it.

It's not so much that Brown and Smart are untouchable, even though I really don't want to trade them. Either one could be traded in the right deal. It's just that you have to get a player back that makes it worth it. Harden's on court talents are undeniable, but I'm starting to think the other stuff is a serious impediment to a winning team culture.

The problem is, there are only a handful of elite NBA players and none of them are really available. Obviously we would all rather have Giannis or AD, but that doesn't seem to be in the cards. Sometimes you have to take what you can get or just keep rolling with what you have. It's not like hanging on to Jaylen and Smart is a bad consolation prize.

agreed.  hate to give up Brown but if we do, it has to be for a better 2-way player and there's not many of those around.

if we were to get Harden, who I don't think is the piece to get us to a title, the goal should be to add him to Tatum and Brown, not Tatum and Kemba
