I usually throw out a non-basketball conversation piece in the offseason to take our minds off the boredom of end of the season (and in light of the political mess in the country right now) so I'm going to take a shot at creating a topic we can all have good discussion on.

After talking about the passing of Eddie Van Halen, a few friends of mine and I got into a discussion about what bands/artists they'd like to see live in concert once the pandemic passes and the country/world can have social events again (fingers crossed we can get back to that).  Not including bands/artists you've already seen live, what bands are you hoping to get to see live that you have seen yet.  It has to be a band/singer that's still around and could possibly go on tour --> no one who's passed or a band that's clearly broken up or lost a core member such that seeing the band play isn't really seeing that band.

The ones I personally would like to see are:
- Eric Clapton
- Rolling Stones
- Foo Fighters
- Billy Joel
- Kenny Wayne Shepherd
- U2
- Bad Company

There's been a bunch I've already seen or there's been a critical member of the band that's passed so my list isn't terribly long.

Anyone else have a concert bucket list?

I’ve seen just about everyone I’ve wanted to see.  I’d like to say the Stones but they have come to my area a few times and I’d love to see them in more intimate setting than the venues they play.  I never pull the trigger because I won’t really enjoy them from a mile away.  Maybe if I had a friend that wanted to join me I’d go but I can never justify spending the $ that it would require to bring my girl and get seats that would be adequate for me to enjoy the show.

I do have regrets about not seeing a few bands before deaths occurred.

I was just thinking about one yesterday.

Mark Knopfler.  One of my favorite guitarists.

I've never seen Clapton either, but I'm not sure what kind of music he'd be playing these days.
Yup

Agreed.  Not getting to see Nirvana — even though I lived in Oregon during their peak — still weighs on me.

I wish I’d gotten to see R.E.M. before they retired, too.

not seeing the Stones for me was always a matter of them being sold out and being too expensive to get a ticket.

There's bands that I missed out on seeing due to members passing away but didn't list them since there's no hope of seeing them now.   Tom Petty would be at the top of that list for me

can't say I've seen any of them (or heard of most of them).

Knopfler is interesting.  not sure what he's been up to.  Sultans of Swing and their following album were always on my college roommate's cassette player.

Early REM would have been good.  not big on their later stuff.  you might still get a mini-reunion tour when things open up

Bowie was very hit or miss for me.  supposedly put on a great show.

I'm one of those weird indie rock people.  Although, I grew up on classic rock and still love it also.  Saw the Stones at Soldier Field in '19 and they were incredible. That was bucket list for me.   Seen Billy Joel at Wrigley twice.  I definitely encourage you to see him if you can.

hoping he does another round of touring.  one of my favorites that are on the lighter side of music.

My bucket list would be more event/venue specific seeing as I've probably seen every band/artist I've ever been a huge fan of.

Off the top of my head, of the places/events I've never been to, I'd still like to see a show at Red Rocks and I'd love to go to the Cali Roots festival. And while I've seen Phish more times than I can count or remember, I would like to see them down in the Riviera Maya (MX) once. I'd also really like to get back to the Envision festival down in Uvita (CR) again someday, that was a blast.

Back in the 70s one of my favorite groups and maybe the best live concert I ever attended (200 jammed into a small venue, The Cellar Door, Georgetown, DC) was Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes.  I wish I could have seen Bradley Nowell, Sublime, before he died.  Today, the one performer I really would like to see is Eddie Vedder.  The man and Pearl Jam were and are amazing!
