Several folks have suggested Hayward opting out for 4yr/75-80M deal.  I don't see that as realistic when he has a 1yr/34M option.  If he does opt out, I'd expect him to get 4yr/100M range.

I think if he opts in that would be good. It's a low level contract to help match salaries. But don't see us getting that lucky. Seems anyone leaving here gets paid a lot more than expected.

Same people though Horford would do the exact same thing for us. Economically speaking, Hayward would, in essence, take a 3yr/$46M extension? Even when his value is at an all-time low, that’s still not a good contract for him to get stuck into if he regains his all-star form. If he doesn’t, it doesn’t really matter, he’s already got that nine-figure deal under his belt.

If he opts out (I don’t think he does, I believe he gambles on himself having a great 2021 season), I’m sure the money will be there from someone (like it was for Horford).

I was reviewing contracts and rumors for around the league and 1+1 seems to be popular option. At $52 million he might consider it from C's or another team.

Both of them want to be the foil to LeBron/AD’s Lakers, so where is a better place to do that than Boston? We need to get to 18 before the Lakers do, so we need a transformative superstar ASAP. We have more assets than others to make it happen with one of these two superstars who still haven’t found a championship home. Obviously Giannis is preferable for his age alone. Let’s get this done so we can win 18 next year (and 19 the year after, 20 the year after that, ...)

Hayward will definitely opt-in, so try to get us below the luxury line this year with a restructured five year deal that provides security to him and luxury tax relief for us prior to our new dynasty’s first championship. It’s risky, but he can definitely become a Manu-like central figure in our dynasty led by Stevens.

Kanter will probably opt-in, and he complements Theis very well. But if we can get a better defensive/rebounding center at the MLE (see below), see who wants to get Kanter for a 2024 or 2026 first-round lottery-protected pick (or lottery-protected first-round swap in 2023 or 2025). If he opts-out, oh well.

Make it clear to Tatum and Smart that they are getting massive (max in Tatum’s case) extensions next offseason after we win the NBA championship. They are the perfect number 2 and 3 to Giannis or Kawhi.

Kemba is going nowhere. He’s our PG, he’s a boss, and he’s going to live out at least this contract because it’s hard enough getting free agents to come to Boston.

My goodness that's an overpay. Think about what Kawhi and Danny Green were traded for to Toronto: DeMar DeRozan, Jakob Poeltl and a 1st round pick. At this stage Brown is at worst as good as DeRozan. So you're saying 6 first round picks < Poeltl and ONE 1st rounder?

Let's look at the Paul George trade - SGA, Gallinari and 5 first round picks. That's about equal to the trade you're proposing on paper, except for the fact that PG13 is contracted for years while both Kawhi and Giannis are not contracted for as long. So again, you're paying considerably more than the market has dictated MVP level wings are worth. And at the stage of being traded, Paul George was a 28/8/4 wing with elite defence who finished 3rd in the MVP race.

How about the Westbrook trade - Chris Paul & 4 first round picks. I would say that this again is an inferior trade package to the one you're offering for Giannis or Kawhi.

I'm not too against trading for Giannis if we had knowledge that he'd sign long-term with us. But given that's an impossibility, I would be overly wary. I don't think there's a precedent for the kind of insane proposal you're offering.

Roy - I too was attempting to figure out what type of trade it would take to acquire JJ Redick. I think it'd have to be Romeo and Poirier plus a pick or 2. I would do it in a second. If NOP agreed I think there'd be some really interesting discussion surrounding how the lineups would be.

Who starts? 

You could bring Gordon and JJ off the bench. You could bring Smart and JJ off the bench. You could bring Gordon and Smart off the bench. I think we could really get creative with lineups.

It'd be a real 7 man playoff team, with Grant/RWill getting some spot mins.
