Wow, over 800 guests checking out this thread. I am amazed that this many people are immediately plugged into this news in the middle of summer.

Over 1000.  I actually noticed that too and thought it was weird, but wasn't sure if that was unusual for Celticsblog.

1576.

I cant think of any thread ever have this many check ins. The speaks to the instantaneousness of social media, the gruesomeness of the injury, and the knowledge that Celticblog posters are gonna have images, videos, instant reactions all in one place.

Yeah for a year at least. Then he should probably recover.

To use an athlete that sustained a similar injury as an example, Anderson Silva fractured the tibia and fibia in December 2013.

Quote
He underwent emergency surgery in Las Vegas on the night of the fight. Dr. Steven Sanders inserted a titanium metal rod into Silva's leg, which will likely remain there for the rest of his life. On Friday (August 1st), Silva said the leg was healed "95 percent."

But were all those people cruising the internet at that moment? I imagine a lot of people got a text, tweet, facebook, whatever post.

Going to google to get news is so 2012.   :D

That reminded me of Lawrence Taylor sacking Joe Theisman on MNF. Horrible.

USA is a way too much risk for the reward for "STAR" players. Teams have too much invested in certain individuals for this. It's stupid from an investment standpoint. Hopefully teams restrict their most important nba assets from participating in non nba events. It's insane honestly.

Indiana just lost lance and potentially paul George on five weeks! Are you kidding me?! Their 2014-15 season is done if he's out!

Yo if this is theisman type stuff then id never let players play in "charity" games! Stupid. Just dumb.

Just watched that video UHG!

On the bright side bones heal and knees don't.  It might take a while but he will be back.

The injury happened during a routine play for an athletic wing - the attempted block on a layup drive on a fast break. This could have happened anywhere, anytime. USA practice, Drew League, etc

This makes me wonder if NBA practice facilities all have hanging baskets, in order to avoid this kind of thing.

Ugh..that was the shin bone not the ankle right?
How many games does he miss with that?
Is he out for the season?
God reminded me of Rondo when Wade snapped his arm the wrong way...
Will post video when it's online.

Agreed.  I didn't see it at first, but, is it even possible for a leg to bend like that?  Oh that does not look good.  This is the leg version of Rondo's 'injury' cough, cough.  I loved George before all of the stuff that transpired off of the court, so my opinion on him has changed, but still, I'm hoping that he'll make a complete recovery.  Maybe it's the curse of Derrick Rose.  Isn't it ironic how he was the first player they showed in that clip.  That was eerie.  Man oh man.  What an offseason for the Pacers (sarcasm).  Wow.

Goodness, I feel it when I look at it... chill down my spine. My leg hurts. I didn't see it until the replay, I was thinking it couldn't be that bad... then, BAM! He didn't look like he had bones in the leg, reminds me of Stretch Armstrong.

Wish him a speedy recovery!
It takes me 3hrs to get to Miami and 1hr to get to Orlando... but I *SPIT* on their NBA teams! "Bless God and bless the (Celts)"-Lady GaGa (she said gays but she really meant Celts)

… this could've happened anywhere. Literally anywhere. Are you going to propose that the NBA ban players from offseason pickup games, too?
