Quote
James Ham: According to a league source, the Kings have picked up the fourth year option on De’Aaron Fox, as well as the third year option on Marvin Bagley. They did not pick up the option on Harry Giles or Caleb Swanigan.

Would a 2nd round pick and Javonte Green do?

I really liked what I saw from Giles last season, good game vs Celtics last season

The guy is also good buds with Grant Williams.

His injury situation/history is a downer. But he is still young and perhaps can reach full health status

Couple problems here

1. His knees don’t work
2. He’s dumb. Doesn’t understand defensive concepts
3. Even if I’m wrong on 1 and 2 and he comes in and is good, we can’t offer him more than 125% of his salary due to his option not being picked up while any other team can offer whatever they please

So I doubt he’s good and in the case that he is good he’d be a rental

He was pretty solid last season, but even then didn't manage 60 games. Just not sure his body will ever allow him to be a good contributor for long, which is a bummer.

If we were confident in his body I'd have no issues.

Celts need someone who will be better than all 4 Celtic big men.

Giles is not the answer.

What the Celts need is a big man for the playoffs.

Giles is not that guy.

He's also friends with Tatum. They were all in the elite player circuit for recruiting and AAU.

I don't think he's want the Celtics need from the PF/C position. Nor is the team in a position to develop him and Williams.

I don't understand why people would be against this. Henry Giles has talent, and we're giving up practically nothing. Even with all the red flags, I'd take a swing on him.

PG: Dennis Johnson / Jo Jo White / Stephon Marbury
SG: Sidney Moncrief / World B. Free
SF: Chris Mullin / Ron Artest

We already have lots of projects here. And given the injury history of Giles, I'd stay away from it until I see him able to play consistently healthy for more than 1 season.

I don’t object to taking a flyer on him.  But we are not developing him this season.  He’ll be an unrestricted free agent next year and not likely to be expensive.  Makes more sense to take a look then if we have an open roster spot for purposes of developing a player.  He’s frankly not worth a second-round pick.

2nd round picks are more valuable now.
Teams just don't give them away like they used to.

The team has enough project big men on the roster. He’s redundant.

I'd rather have this guy from NO , named Nicolò Melli. He could be gotten seems tough but a little undersized. He seems like he's a stronger Theis. It might just be a lateral move and i've only seen him in limited minutes but I like what I see. NO can't really be holding on to tightly to this guy and i think he can be had for a couple 2nd rounders and a body.

Melli is a good player to develop.
But I don't think Melli is playoff ready.

Celts are in a position to win now.

I see your point and i have only watched him for a small sample size. He seems strong and fairly quick but if he can start hitting those 3s with regularity he might be something...

Yeah. This is where I am. The team needs big men it can depend on. Not more work in progress big men.

salty beat me to these points, which is not unusual at all. i liked giles inspite of his injuries. he is talented.

yet, he would get little playing time this year and is a free agent next year. waiting to get him would seem to make more sense.
I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.
