my favorite little set of occurances

1970- with the 4th overall pick in the NBA draft, the Boston Celtics select Dave Cowens (with the 4th pick in the 7th round the Celtics also drafted Charlie Scott, but he decides to take up an offer to play in the ABA instead)

1972- Boston Celtics acquire big man Paul Silas from the Suns as compensation for them signing Charlie Scott (who had become tired of dominating in the ABA)

1973- Boston Celtics draft Paul Westphal with the 10th overall pick in the NBA draft.

1975- Paul Westphal is dealt to the Phoenix Suns for Charlie Scott (who was originally drafted by the C's in 1970) and future considerations.

1975/1976- Celtics win their 13th Championship (defeating Paul Westphal and the Phoenix Suns)

1981- The Phoenix Suns trade Paul Westphal(drafted by the Celtics) to Seattle for Dennis "DJ" Johnson

1983- Celtics trade Rick Robey to Phoenix in return for Dennis "DJ" Johnson

after looking through and finding these stats i've become obsessed with our connection with the Suns, Paul Westphal, and Charlie Scott.

(note: Rajon Rondo was drafted by the Suns, Danny Ainge played for the Suns, Eddie House played for the Suns.)

TP for you.

My father and a friend got season tickets for Bird's rookie year.  Our seats were right behind the Celtics bench.  Your feet would freeze from the ice below.

Before the game they released a dove as a symbol of the dawn of the Bird era.  The dove flew up to the top of the scoreboard where it brushed down a large pile of dust and debris!

-----

That old scoreboard was such a clunker.  It reminded me of a large chunk of pineapple.

Yup
